I had mine taken out about two months ago. The swelling was more uncomfortable for me than painful. I'm an odd case, though. My dentists were actually surprised to hear that, by the end of the day that I had the operation, I was walking around the house as if nothing happened.

Heh, when I got my wisdom teeth taken out I was in bed for two days.

The main thing I remember was having my mouth packed full of gauze.  I also remember being super-duper high for almost the entire day after I got them out.  I wonder if they gave me more anesthetic than they needed too, because when I got my appendix out a couple months ago the effect of the drug seemed to wear off pretty quickly, like within an hour of me waking up.
