Since time immemorial one name has struck fear in the heart of Hyrulians everywhere.  Its sheer mass sends people running, should they ever see one.  It lurks in misty darkness, only emerging to frenziedly feed on the weak.

It is, of course, the Hylian Loach.

Have you ever caught it?  I've managed to catch it only five times, and that was only because I poured a lot of time and effort into it each time.

To catch it easily, you need a few things:  The right time of day (near dusk or dawn, right before/after the wolf/rooster howls/crows), the Iron Boots (this thing weighs 35 ****ing pounds, you'll need all the leverage you can get), the sinking lure (it lurks near the bottom of the pond, and won't bite the regular lure), and lots and lots and lots of patience.

Pea-Tear Griffin

I remember that thing... It still took forever to catch... I wasted my time to do it though XD

I think I saw my sister do it once, but I don't think I've ever really bothered that much myself. :P

I should probably try it sometime.

I don't even remember how to find the Sinking Lure.

Hi no Seijin

It's somewhere at the bottom of the pond, I don't remember where, but I'm pretty sure you need the Iron Boots to get to it.  Zora Tunic optional.

There are three points where the sinking lure spawns, and you can only get it after you have gotten the golden scale.  The first point is anywhere around the outside perimeter of the pond, somewhere in the grass.  The second point is around the two clusters of rocks near the top and bottom of the small stream feeding into the pond proper.  The third point is on top of one of the logs in the pond itself, which may require the iron boots depending on where it is.

I own an IRL Hylian Loach so nyeh P:

I've caught him several times (five or six?) in Twilight Princess, but only once in Ocarina of Time.

Mysterious F.

Fishing is so much easier in Twilight Princess it is amazing.

Deku

Funny story really.

I'd been trying to catch it for nearly an hour and a half, and I had to go to the bathroom. I called my sister in to try while I was gone. I came back, and she had caught the friggin loach. I couldn't believe it. She said it just bit the lure, and she didn't know what to do, so she pressed buttons. I was so shocked. lol!

That really is something, ZV.

MagmarFire

Maybe she should play your games more often.

So...

I had the Gold Zora Scales (I think you needed it), the Sinking Lure, m Iron Boots on, and I waited for pretty much an hour, but nothing happened.

You have to enter the fishing hole just as the time of day changes. It's...a crepuscular creature, you see.

Oh, I thought you only had to be in the fishing hole when the time of day changed, not just enter. Thank you for clarifying.

Hi no Seijin

Doesn't the in-game clock stop when you're in the fishing hole?
