origin of the master sword??

so we've alllll heard that skyward sword is supposidly supposed to be taking place before oot, around the origin of the master sword.
does anybody have any theories on its origin?? or an idea on what of the master sword could possibly be inccorporated into skyward sword??
im sure we've alllll seen that early artwork as well, with link without a sword and a blue girl by his side...
now what is that all about?

Not to mention this is spoilers territory, so you want to warn people about that in the title.

As for the spoilerific truth, [spoilers]it has been confirmed that the titular Skyward Sword, which is the girl in that early piece of artwork, turns into the Master Sword.[/spoilers]  Doesn't leave much room for speculation on the Master Sword's origins except for exactly how it happens.
