So we're going to be hearing soon about Smash Bros. 4, and all we know about the game is that:

1. There is a likely chance we'll see a Capcom character (crossing fingers for protoman).
2. There will be no more clone characters.
3. It will be cross-platform for the Wii-U and the 3DS.

That being said, I'm excited that there won't be anymore clone characters (ex. Captain Falcon's clone character is Ganondorf).

I think we'll see Ganondorf eliminated from the roster in favor of Ghirahim. I think this because it would be easier to eliminate the clone character, rather than to create a moveset for Ganondorf, and Ghirahim is more current.

I think we'll say goodbye to Lucas. He's a clone character that debuted mainly because of the new mother game that was released not long after the release of Brawl. He'll likely be eliminated, rather than have a new moveset.

I'm pretty certain Solid Snake and Sonic will be cut as well. I think they were meant to be Brawl exclusives, and that's my only reasoning behind it. If Sonic stays, I'll actually be pretty surprised, but I think Snake is definitely gone.

Wolf will likely not make a return, but I hope Falco does. Falco, being a clone character of Fox, might get a revamp- but again, it's easier to just delete him and call it a day. Falco is one of my favorites though, so it makes me a little uneasy.

It's likely we're going to lose Toon Link as well. He's a clone character, and he's relatively out of date. I also think they'll upgrade regular link from Twilight Princess Link to Skyward Sword Link. I hope we don't lose Zelda, but the Skyward Sword Zelda didn't appear to have any significant powers.

While I'm 100% certain that Pikachu and Jigglypuff will remain on the roster (as permanent fixtures), I think we're gonna lose Lucario in favor of a more current pokemon (possibly the new Mewthree). While on the subject of Pokemon, we might see the Pokemon Trainer change to the Gen 6 pokemon trainer, with the new starters as pokemon.

I'd like to see Ike dropped in favor of Chrom, and if I know Nintendo, it's pretty likely. I'm pretty certain Marth will stick around too, because he's freaking Marth. I'd like to see another fighter from the new Fire Emblem game too. Vaike, Tharja, or even Basillio would be nice additions.

I wouldn't be at all offended if we lost R.O.B., Diddy Kong, Ice Climbers, Dedede, or Game&Watch. I don't see a reason why we would lose them- but I don't much care for any of them. Olimar is likely to stay, seeing as the new Pikmin is coming out soon, and I don't mind that at all. Captain Olimar is really fun to play, and is one of the more unique characters in the game.

Here's to hoping for a Megaman entry (even some Golden Sun love would be appreciated), and new pokemon being included in the game. I'm really excited for the possibilities, and I can't wait for the announcement at E3. Can anyone think of anything that'd be really neat for the next installment of Smash Bros?

My real Poison team in BW2. They all have perfect natures and EV's. I went the extra distance and bred the right IV's into them. Come at me bro.

They should bring back wavedashing!  Don't simplify it, don't make it easy.  It may have been somewhat of a glitch but it really added to the intensity of matches.

No kiddding, that'd be awesome. I'm actually hopeful that Zoroark will replace Lucario. He fits the bill as a humanoid (as lucario and mewtwo were) pokemon for smash, and I think he'd have some pretty awesome shapeshifting abilities (like the way Kirby copies foes, but more exact). I'm also hoping for Dedede to not be deleted, but replaced. I don't know if anyone remembers my hopes for Brawl back when the Brawl speculation topic was hot, but my hopes included Knuckle Joe, a kirby character that I feel never got enough love. I'm excited for ANY kind of reveal. I hope they keep spoilers coming like they did on the Dojo website for Brawl. Refreshing the page every hour or so hoping for something new. Sorry I'm gushing guys, but I'm a smash bros fan-boy to the end.

*crosses fingers for Phoenix Wright...won't happen, but still*

Agreed. I'd love to see some Ghirahim, and I don't care if we'd have another sword user. (Pretty sure swords are underrepresented in Smash anyway; we have too many people using their fists! </swordcomplainermocking>)

QuoteI'm pretty certain Solid Snake and Sonic will be cut as well. I think they were meant to be Brawl exclusives, and that's my only reasoning behind it. If Sonic stays, I'll actually be pretty surprised, but I think Snake is definitely gone.

I personally hope this doesn't happen; in fact, I find it quite likely that Snake will still be in. Kojima actually asked Sakurai personally to put Snake in before Melee was released, but it was too far in development to include him. If anything, they'll probably beg to have Snake to be put in SSB4, as well.

I'll be sad to see Sonic go, but I don't know how Sega's gonna act in that regard.

QuoteI also think they'll upgrade regular link from Twilight Princess Link to Skyward Sword Link. I hope we don't lose Zelda, but the Skyward Sword Zelda didn't appear to have any significant powers.

Since I love Skyward Sword, all of my yes! I especially hope we get SS!Zelda, especially if she's in her spirit maiden attire.

Mewthree would be awesome, especially since so many people were heartbroken that he was cut from Brawl. I think it would be a pretty good deal.

Again, all of my yes! Chrom could more or less be modeled after Ike, and...yes, it's probably safe to say Marth will be staying because of his star power. (Although I wouldn't mind if *SPOILERS*

Lucina were a costume change for Marth, voice and all. She could more or less have the exact same fighting style.)

I wouldn't care either way if they added it or didn't add it in the next one, since, while Wavedashing does add depth to the metagame, it is only a small part in adding to the mindgame factor. I'd rather have them focus on making SSB4 more fast-paced; that's where I REALLY feel the intensity in matches. Brawl could be fast, but Melee matches outspeed Brawl matches a LOT. I found Brawl+ to be a pretty good medium myself, but just as long as I have control over my characters, I'm good. ...Which also means no random tripping, haha.

Although, again, it would be cool if Wavedashing made it in, but I wouldn't mind if it weren't.

Sakurai stated that while they would like to include more characters from outside Nintendo, the game may lose focus of what it's supposed to be. He'd like to keep outsiders to a minimum. That being said, I'd assume that if they wanted to add more outside characters, they'd cut the ones they have. But that's just my line of thinking. I'd like it if they kept every single character from Brawl and just added characters. But that seems unlikely.

Hi no Seijin

Mags, I concur with your spoileriffic statement.

I never got the hang of wavedashing in Melee, so I also wouldn't care whether or not they brought it back.

As for Link and Zelda, I wouldn't mind them getting a graphical upgrade to the Skyward Sword style (Sheik included), but if they do drop Toon Link, I'd rather they replace him with a Toon Zelda who can transform into Tetra.

My biggest hope, though, is a character creator, especially if they are cutting clone characters.

The buzz around the community is that you'll be able to fight with your Mii, and give it a moveset from any of the available characters. Nothing from Nintendo to confirm it, just anonymous leakers talking.

What IS something new that was said by an IGN official is that because Namco/Bandai is working alongside Nintendo on the new Smash Bros, we're going to see "A popular anime character" in the new game. The way it was worded, the IGN official already knew for certain, and just couldn't say anything. Most of the community is convinced that we're getting Goku in the roster.

My thoughts:

I hope that if they DO include Goku, then it's Kid Goku with his power-pole. I think he'd make a charming addition, and fit right in with the rest of them at that age. If they add Adult Goku though, then he'll be too powerful to balance correctly, imho.
Other "famous" anime characters that would fit snug into the Smash bros universe are Kid Naruto,Monkey D. Luffy, and Ichigo.

non-anime characters that Namco Bandai could slap onto the roster include anyone from Tekken, Mr. Driller, Characters from Katamari, or even Taizo Hori.

It's my hope to see Kid Goku or Kid Naruto. I think the both of them would make excellent additions :)

Zaraki Kenpachi would be the best SSB addition ever.

Hi no Seijin

A pity it's not Square Enix who said that; we could have gotten Ed Elric.

I think using Miis are fine for stuff like party games, or Mario Kart, but for a fighter, I'd much rather have deeper character customization.  But, seeing as it is Nintendo, I really shouldn't get my hopes up for it.

I wouldn't get our hopes up there. The dev team would know better than to leak information to a high-profile game publication, especially if NDAs are involved. Methinks this IGN official might be pulling something out of his behind to spark conversation, which I guess isn't necessarily a bad thing.

My hope is that, since Namco is co-developing it, we get a Tales character in there--namely, Lloyd Irving. But who knows?

Hi no Seijin

*giggling fit*  Wii Fit Trainer is a fighter.  I'll definitely have to try her. XD

I don't know about the Wii U version, but it looks like Gerudo Valley is a stage in the 3DS version.  I am much excite about that.

Hi no Seijin

Well, I don't much care for him, but for those of you who do, the Pikmin and Olimar are returning for Super Smash Bros. 4.  Personally, I'm still waiting to hear about Zelda and the new Fire Emblem character.
