Evilslayer

As a guard it's his duty to defend the town with his life. The chances that he survived the siege is tiny, and even if he did I guess he must have joined some sort of rebellion against Ganon.

Marcamillian

I think its probably a little nod to the guard... as for how he got his glowing eye and appears to have shrunk... a wizzard did it   (everything odd is done by an unnamed wizzard)

Damn those unnamed wizards...

I talked to the guard on night watch and he said he studied poes.7 years later, there's a mysterious man that is unidentified who studies and collects poes. What do you think? ???

OK, It's me; the one who knows all. Now, listen gto my words of wisdom...

OK, you have ALttP?  Where it says to press start, wait. It will show the Proluge again. Notice that there was a great war, and Many men were lost, and that the evil thif Ganondorf was sealed away. It is reffering to OoT. Thatv guard is one of the many that is lost in the Great War, being during the 7 years that Link was in the Portal. Being that the guard was dead, the poe man, known as a Garo, decided, "Hey! Everybody is dead! Now people will welcome who I am. I will make a shop here." Just like the Garo in MM are in the area of the dead.

Hey!  I'm an unnamed wizard! :P

I'm not too sure about that, Nogare, but it seems good.

Hi no Seijin

That's why I said it seemed good; I have a lack of counterpoints.

:o.... oh. Ok then. Why are you not sure, though?

Davros

Because it there is also a link between the guard and the poe collector. As the guard says that he wishes there was more evil in the world (Or something along those lines...).

Zelda Veteran

Does Nintendo purpously leave us with these mysteries to solve? Have we ever sent one of our things into nintendo? Maybe they would like it! Doubt it. :P But still, these are great theories! I love all the thinking thats going on here! Keep up the great work guys! Ill also put in a word or two every so often. :)

My real Poison team in BW2. They all have perfect natures and EV's. I went the extra distance and bred the right IV's into them. Come at me bro.

The more likely case is that they are one and the same.

In this game, there is the problem of change.

If you meet a man in the street whome you have not seen for so long, would it not be that their bodies are different? They fight a war over 7 years, and who are the casualties? One man loses an eye, another becomes crippled, are then, you to assume that they are different men? Or would you say that their bodies are different, but there souls, same?

Ask any veteran of a war, and they will tell you how they lost an eye or a limb. Ask any veteran of a war, and they will tell you that they have become warped by the constant bloodshed.

The man fought, but is as the last life remaining. In reality, he seems more of a phantasm than a living man. Look at the castle, does it not change? If after 7 years of surviving such a place, tell me that you would be as you are now. tell me that you would not face the brunt of a thousand horrors, and tell me that your eyes would look the same as they do now, after glimsping such, or tell me that all would remain would be that single red eye.

Evilslayer

People would change... dramatically. I'm reading a saga of fantasy novels right now, called the Malazan Book of the Fallen. As the title hints the main theme in the saga is warfare. That saga really goes into the whole idea about how war changes people.

Some situations are rather extreme, though. Take the Tenescowri, for example. They are the peasant army of the Pannion Seer, who rules the growing Pannion Domin. They are the inhabitants of the conquered lands. They have absolutely no rights, so they are forced to join the Tenescowri to get food. And that food is human flesh, the meat of the army's victims.

I've just read past a horrible battle in a small city called Capustan. No one who were to survive such horrors as those the defenders meet there would be the same after the battle. And that doesn't seem to be the case, either. :-*

As for the guard, though I admit it can be the same I like to believe he was killed when Ganon's army attacked. Possibly within the city, as that's where the gate is. Imagine the horrors. It would most likely be like oblivion.

Heh, speaking of oblivion, I'd guess the chaos would resemble a certain battle towards the end of the game Oblivion.

Anju

he turned in2 an Alky 2.There's about 5 bottles of booze on the left side of his bed. That's what he bangs 2 get the poe's spirits back in their cages. :P
