Smashing Revelations! 06 Aug 2007 — by Alpha |
Okay, this 'Smashing' joke is already getting old . . .
But one thing that'll never get old is using Sheik. Or Ganondorf, if evil's just the way you roll. For those of you who haven't heard, in a recent interview, Aonuma revealed that these two characters might very well be making their return appearances in Brawl! Three cheers for more Zelda characters! Anywho, here's the actual segment of the interview, conducted by Game Informer: GI: Have you been consulted at all for the usage of Link or Sheik or Ganondorf for Smash Bros. Brawl? Aonuma: I’ve been working with Sakurai for a very long time with this new Smash Bros., because the Wii came out and when discussion for a new Smash Bros. took place nobody could think of anyone other than Sakurai working on it. He was kind of the default, and I was very happy to hear that he would be working on it. Actually, my designers did work on the designs for Sheik and Link and Ganondorf. So they submitted the initial designs, and so it would fit in the Smash Bros. Brawl environment, they’ve had to tweak some of the designs. But Sakurai has brought those altered designs to NCL. We’re working very closely with the team of Smash Bros. Brawl to make sure the characters look their best. So, it's confirmed that Sheik and Ganondorf will be in Brawl, though to what degree is still up for debate. I mean, are they playable characters? Much as I'd like to just go ahead and assume that that's the case, do note that he didn't say that that's the case. I mean, they made Giga Bowser for Melee and he wasn't playable there. And they might just be some of those very interesting Assist Trophies, too. Who knows? But still, in all likelihood they will indeed be making comebacks. We've no word on whether Sheik will still be a transformation of Zelda or if the Sheikah will be a character all to himself (or herself, for those of you who are picky ![]() Also on a good note, I'd wager that since this announcement has been made by Aonuma, the official Smash Bros. website won't be too far behind in giving us an update on this matter. Even if they weren't planning to divulge info on the LoZ characters so soon, I think it'd be a good idea to go ahead and get it out of the way so that we can feast our eyes on the beauty of the new characters (Hint-hint, Mr. Sakuari - as interesting as a Smoke Ball can be, I'd much rather get a good look at my favorite Sheikah ninja or Gerudo overlord). Until the next update, this is Alpha . . . signing off before my boss comes around and finds me writing this thing during work hours. ![]() (Interview quote taken from The Hylia) And for those people who haven't been smart enough to add it to their favorites yet (which is something that said people oughta do right now): Smash Bros DOJO!! |

Well, waddaya know? Didn't they state that there will be know "copy-characters"? They would have to give everyone's favorite King of Evil a new move-set, which will hopefully include that beautiful sword that he swung around in one of his SSBM victory poses.
Now Sheik, however, had a move-set of her very own, HOWEVER: As we know TP Zelda = no Sheik. Like Alpha said however, he may be an entirely different character. I would love to see Sheik return, because I was quite skilled with him ^_^ I agree with Alpha on the fact that the smoke ball(as entirely cool as it is) hardly substitutes for a character update, but I also don't want them to spoil too much before the game is released. I would like to be entirely surprised by certain character and item appearances. |
