[News] 'New' Zelda Brawl Info
03 Dec 2007 — by Alpha
So yeah, sorry about the long time away. I was originally waiting for enough new stuff on Brawl to validate making a new post over here, but then when such new stuff finally came, college life decided it hates me even more than normal. You all understand, I'm sure.

'Actually Alpha, I don--'

Don't make me get that soul-stealing shield again.

. . .
. . .
. . . that's more like it.

Anywho! Without further ado, let's get on with this little update! Now, granted, if you've been on the Brawl website at all recently you already know all this. And if you haven't been on the Brawl site recently, then you're a foolish mortal who should be punished. Now, how to best punish you? . . .

Cardinal Fang! Fetch . . . the comfy chair!

Or you could just start catching up with this stuff . . . Yeah, that works too.

First and foremost of the information y'all will be wanting to know is the revealing of Link's taunts. That's right, everyone, that's taunt with an 's' - we got us plural positions for our playing . . . enjoyment (Ha! Thought you could get me, eh, alliteration? Well take THAT!). Using three directions of the Control Pad, Up, Side, and Down (at least, for the Gamecube controller), we can now mock our opponents in a variety of ways.

The now-classic sword sheathing maneuver from Twilight Princess. I'm REALLY looking forward to using this one. smile

No better way to keep opponents running then by unleashing the power of . . . Navi . . .
*shudder shudder*

And this little HYAH!

Oh man, I'm really looking forward to knocking someone off the edge and then doing the Up Taunt - that will no doubt be priceless. I already do it whenever I can in TP, after all . . . even if I've got a swarm of Bulblins converging on my position . . . angry

Speaking of variety -

'Wait, who's speaking about variety?'

I dunno. But now that you mention it, there is another bit of nice variety info we've got to report on: two of Link's costume changes have been revealed. And, oh, how much do we all love this . . .

Yes. You heard it here last, folks: we get to play as DARK LINK.

*dances in the corner for a few minutes*
*looks around*
Hey, if you've read Eloze then you have no reason to not be this excited, alright? And if you haven't read Eloze . . . well, that's a crueler punishment in and of itself than I care to even think about. Aw great, now I feel sorry for you people (NOT! *maniacal laughter, activate!*).

There's also the Zora Tunic, obviously - not the Zora Armor, however, which is good or bad depending on how you take it, I suppose. But who cares about that, when you've can fight as DARK LINK!?

This also opens up another chance to do this classic little fight:

Behold, the Dark Link Duel. Cue the dramatic music!

Yes indeed, one of the confirmed Events for Brawl will be the ever popular Link vs. Dark Link devastating duel to the death (aw cwap . . . fine, Alpha - 1, Alliteration - 1). Apparently, this fight will be stamina based rather than the normal 'rack-up-damage-and-then-send-them-flying', as can be seen by the fact that we start off with 200 HP rather than 0%.

Though they better let me send Dark flying. Otherwise, I'll be annoyed.

Oh, and back to the costumes again, Link ain't the only one who's got a dark side.

It's about time we got an evil Zelda in the mix.

So Dark Zelda's in there too . . . interesting choice of hair colors, I gotta say. And we also get to see Zelda with a more pinkish outfit - they say on the site that "this is the Zelda of old," but it's really just a color change. Her Ocarina outfit did NOT look like that . . .

And then . . . there's the update that I'm most excited about.

It's the Hyrule Temple stage!!!

"It's perfect for those who like pursuit," Sakurai says. Personal experience dictates that I cannot disagree with this statement.

I don't know what you all think, but this one made me want to start jumping up and down in excitement. I didn't, because I was in class when I first saw it (*shifty-eyes*), but I wanted to. Thought that counts, right? Right? Aw, who cares? We still get this humongous stage thrown in to our Brawl experience - and according to Sakurai, "we've brought back a number of stages that appeared in the last game." So we may very well also be able to try duking it out in Great Bay once more as well!

If that's not enough to get you extremely excited . . . then I'm guessing you're like me and are getting ready to start blackmailing Sakurai into revealing Sheik and Ganondorf. If that's the case, shoot me an email; we can collaborate our efforts so as to gain the maximum amount of information on the characters with a minimal amount of threats. Bwah-hah-hah!

Still, this has to make you happy for a few seconds, right?

That's all we've got this time around. This is Alpha, signing off to go do . . . stuff.

. . . 'bout time I can do 'stuff' rather than 'homework' . . .

Smash Bros DOJO!!

I just notices that we were supposed to get Brawl yesterday and I still don't see Skull Kid confirmed...
It seems that actually every character has a dark [s]side[/s]theme, I wonder if it will be used in the story mode...
by jackal @ 04 Dec 2007 03:44 pm
It was postponed until February 10th...argh...

February 10th...For America, yes. We here in Europe'll probably get it later crying But cool updates, nevertheless.

Way to spam the frontpage with a brawl update.

I know, isn't it great?

Where has KP gone anyways? I was expecting the Caption Contest to update soon...
by MagmarFire @ 12 Dec 2007 03:13 pm
Should be up soon. Can't be down forever, can it? angry

Anywho, I am SO READY for this game! Just seeing Link's Final Smash and knowing that his FF-esque victory pose is in this game... What more could we ask for!? ^____________^

Okay, I'm tired of trying to find this out, so have patience with me since I'm sure I'm the last gamer on the planet to know the true answer to this question: Are Roy and Marth being cut from Brawl or not?!
by Alpha @ 13 Dec 2007 12:11 am
Heh, you're not the only person wondering, Rinku. Whether or not Marth and Roy are returning has yet to be revealed. The idea of them being cut isn't too terribly farfetched, though a few people over at IGN have provided some evidence for Marth's return being a bit more likely than Roy's.

Here's that IGN thing: http://wii.ign.com/articles/835/835988p1.html.
I recommend you guys read the entire Smash It Up! series; it's pretty cool. I'm especially enamored by the Masks Link concept . . .
