Shigure frowns yet again. "That's it buddy. You're really starting to piss me off." He stated, before swinging his weapons fast. "You got a lot of nerve coming to a place like this, and toying with crowd's excitement." He snarled, and shot from his position. Bringing both of his weapons around in an arc. "I'm gonna give em what they came here for. A FIGHT!" He brought his weapons together to collide where Orpheous was standing just as he had earlier in the fight. [Dual Wield Lv2]

Shigure's twin weapons miss completely, almost as if his rage blinded him, causing him to lose accuracy (2+7[roll+AGI] vs. 15+2[DEF+AGI]). Whatever the case, the nimble Scribe dodges the attack again, making Rafael and the crowd wonder if the fight's ever going to end. "Orpheous once again dodges the Goron's weapons, very likely making Shigure angrier," the Rito announced, very likely stating the obvious, but there wasn't really much to say.

He would win this fight. There was no doubt in his mind that victory was his. However, he felt uncomfortable about treading on this Goron's chance of winning the tournament in the first round. Somebody should really hold a double elimination-style tournament someday. Oh well, if Shigure was destined to win, he still stood a chance. This kind of made Orpheous feel a little better. He called in response to his opponent, "Relax. I don't harbor feelings of hatred against you. This is only a tournament. Let the best man win." Then, he added, "Elemental Burst - Water," as he shot out an orb of water type magic from his right hand [Elemental Burst L2 - Water]. It was launched to target the weak point found by Orpheous only moments ago [Use Informational Scroll acquired from the Quill is Mightier than the Sword].

The crowd isn't surprised to see water being used. Most people know that Goron's are weak to water, and Shigure is clearly no exception. Rafael remains silent as the water flies toward it's target, slamming into the Goron, doing excess damage due to the scroll Orpheous had been writing earlier (16+1[roll+INT]). The total damage done to him is a whopping 52 damage! Rafael remains silent; stunned by the attack in part, but allowing the preceding event to explain itself.

Shigure smiled, and held his weapons tightly. "You've got guts." He said, getting angrier and angrier by the moment. "Lets see what they look like." He said under his breath, as he began to trot towards his opponent. Suddenly, his eyes dilated as from nowhere, a giant wave of rushing water appeared in front of the scribe. The current knocked the wind out of him, and swept him off of his feet. Before he knew it, he was under water. He couldn't draw breath, one, because the wind was taken from him from the impact, and two, because he didn't have gills with which to circulate the water. He was a natural air breather, and was struggling for oxygen. Suddenly, the waves slammed him into the ground as easily as they had picked him up, and left him lying on the ground. His mind raced as pain shot throughout his entire body, and he couldn't even seem to find the strength to move.
He knew there was only one thing for him to do. One thing that could somehow save him from defeat. Yes, he knew he was close to his limit- and in just one attack. "All that writing..." He mumbled. Was he writing to the Goddesses? He turned his body over so he was lying on his rock hard back, and reached into his pack, which was somehow miraculously not carried away by the waves. Reaching into it, he searched around for something he'd packed just in case a situation like this ever arose. A red liquid in a clear glass container, topped off with a cork rested somewhere within his pack. Searching vigorously for it, he knew he didn't have much more time to search before another wave would come crashing down on him, and possibly finishing him. Tch. He thought. The guy sure did his homework on elemental weaknesses... His hand rifled through the bag faster and faster looking for some sort of replenishment. [Find Sustenance]

"Shigure appears to be searching for something," Rafael shouts, as he watches to see the results of the Goron's search. Unfortunately, the search turns up fruitless, and he is able to find nothing (3+1[roll+INT] vs. 15). Perhaps he didn't search hard enough, or he didn't have anything packed. Who knows?

"I am really sorry to do this, Shigure," he stated, readying another elemental burst. "You were a great opponent. And incase if this doesn't work, may the best man win." Oh well, Orpheous might never know what the Goron was looking for. Was it a potion or perhaps some extremely powerful weapon? Either way, the battle would most likely end here. "Elemental Burst - Water," he stated, a solitary tear dripping down his check as he attempt to take away the Goron's chances of moving on in exchange for his feeling that he was doing the right thing [Elemental Burst L2 - Water].

The water flies toward it's opponent, never hindering during it's course. It slams into Shigure with a ferocity that the Goron can't resist (18+1[roll+INT]). "The battle finally comes to an end!" Rafael shouts, landing next to Orpheous. "Our winner is Orpheous!" As he said that, many of the crowds members began cheering for the Scribe, obviously glad that he was going to fight in the next round. He made a signal, calling a few medical volunteers to the Goron to heal him.

Shigure'e eyes widened as the wave grew closer. He was running out of time to find whatever he was looking for, and tried to stand, but failed. He simply closed his eyes, and awaited the pain that would consume him. "Checkmate." He whispered. He'd never used those words on himself before, and it felt odd. Those were the last words many men heard before they met their end. The Goron knew he'd survive the blast, but he also knew he wouldn't be able to fight(or stand for that matter) any longer. "Into the water... heh." The waves hit him with more force than they'd have had to, and his entire body went numb with excruciating pain. The liquid seeped into his rock-hard back, and his skin which wasn't made for water.
The water finally swept over him and away. His vision was a bit blurry, and he felt as if he couldn't move. He heard the announcer call out Orpheous as the winner, and he felt tiny hands all over his being. He opened an eye, and found the children surrounding him. Most of them were crying, while a few of them stared at Orpheous with contempt. "Kids..." He said in his Goron voice, before coughing up a bit of water that his lungs had taken in. "Losing... Its a part of-" He coughed up some more water. "Life..." He finished, attempting to sit up. It pained him far more than just laying there, so he continued to lie flat on his back. "You shouldn't be mad... at my opponent." By this time, the children who were crying had stopped to listen, and those who'd held Orpheous in their mind with hate had turned their head in his direction.
"I wouldn't have expected him to hold back on me... and he didn't." One of the children grabbed his hand, and held it. She buried her face in his damp arm and cried. "I'm satisfied with this loss kids... understand that." He looked up into the sky and winced. I failed... my friend. He thought bitterly, as he slowly started to slip from consciousness. You know... as well as I do... that the technique is only for dire situations... He grunted, and placed a hand over his stomach. I have... training to... He never finished the thought. At the sound of children shouting, and medics rushing to his aid- he faded from his conscious state. He never even got the opportunity to congratulate his opponent- as Rendd would have wanted him to.

Impossible. Orpheous watched the water created by his magic slam into his opponent. The battle was over. As the kids came rushing to Shigure's aid, he smiled, reading the Goron's lips and vaguely hearing his statement. Any contempt that was held against the Scribe in battle was now gone. Then, he watched as the medics arrived and his opponent, Shigure, lost consciousness.
Looks like Orpheous wouldn't get the chance to speak with his former opponent, and find out more about the Goron. Brushing off the few medics who tried heal the minimum amount of wounds, he told them, "Don't Touch Me." His face was stern to them. Ever since the Alpha fight, he really didn't except help from the tournament medics.
He quickly wrote a note for the Goron, for him to read when he woke up.
Dear Shigure,
Good duel. You were a worthy opponent, one that kept me on my toes. There was no doubt that I only won due to chance.
I would love to actually meet you some time. While you're in town, please come and visit me at the house of Ryan Stewart, the curator. If you don't know the location, just ask around. Everybody in town knows where it is. I'll be there for the remainder of the tournament. Stop by anytime.
Orpheous, the wordmancer.
