Things seemed to slow down for the instant of impact against the gelatinous creature's body. Everything was silent for the Goron as his weapons made perfect contact- the only noise that erupted to his ears was the sickening sound of shattering bones. A snapping sound that Shigure's war ridden senses had become familiar with. He'd smashed directly through any internal defenses that caged the important organs. After the bones crumpled under the Goron's destructive force, a painful dying screech, along with other sounds around him came to his ears, everything returning to normal speed for him. It fell over dead at Shigure's feet, and he turned his attention directly to the last remaining threat.
His allies hadn't managed to harm the final enemy during the time it took him to destroy his target. Nobody had been too seriously injured yet;. It was a good situation thus far and the battle seemed to be going relatively well. Just as he picked up his weapons, he was corrected by nature's cruel laws. One of the less beefy members of the group was hit hard square in the stomach by a good sized rock from the last remaining Big Octo. Shigure knew full well that the scribe wasn't meant to take hits like that. One more hit like that would put him in critical condition; or more likely death. Shigure's policy as a commander was to never let an ally fall in battle under his surveillance. Life was nature's greatest gift, and he wouldn't let it fade for anyone without the fight of a lifetime.
This was his prime- the middle of battle where every stroke of his weapons counted. Moments like these dotted his life, and while many are forgotten after the battle, the feeling never changes. His adrenaline was pumping, and while everyone else's attacks were failing, he would make sure that his would not. Before his mind commanded his legs to move, he was already running. He wasn't about to let some overgrown octopus take the life of a comrade. It was a commander's duty, and though he might not be the commander in this group, he was always mentally assuming responsibility for the party. It wasn't mentally healthy for the Goron, for whenever someone were to rush ahead of the group and get hurt, he'd always wind up blaming himself for the misdemeanor in the end of it all. He was close now- close to the enemy- close to victory- close to everyone being safe. His voice thundered throughout the battlefield before his chains were set on a direct crash course for the Big Octo's face.
"I absolutely will not let you extinguish the life of a comrade."
