Chisalu was neither dumb, nor especially unworldly of certain things. Quite certainly, she was not able to process them through her own behaviour, but they played a part of other people's minds. She had seen birth, the things that slid in before that were known to her in an airy, shadowy way, and the thing that came at the end of it was intimately there. Hunger and Death, curled over her shoulders. The immortality of the young was in her, but the fear of the old was known to her.

So, the strange behaviour of these three could be forgiven as part of that, namely the middle part concerning the making of why birth is, and how one selects half the features of one's children.

She stoically examined the behaviour, and equally measured out a disdainfully critical look for it. One that said, in no little course, You're behaving like a bunch of children.

"Chisalu Ki Nuo," She said it quickly, sharpishly, like a bird twittering. "Do you Mask-Man?"

"My name is Thealter," said the young mage simply, no bothering to tell Chisalu that he had already introduced himself. "Nice to meet you, Chisalu Ki Nuo," he added, cheerfully. "And off we go," he finished, starting a walk north to find a meat stand. He knew where one was a few hours ago, but had it moved. Hmm.

OoC: Sorry for the bit of godmodding. I feel like we're unnecessarily dawdling.

IC:

"Mourning," he commented, passively. "Have you ever lost something that was your everything?"

"Oh, yes, only I didn't realize it at the time," Seth replied. He had wrapped himself around Thea's arm and was pleased to find the taut muscle beneath the fabric there. "I know a good stand," he said, dashing ahead and tugging Thea, and by default the two Sheikah girls with him.

Arrika wanted to roll her eyes. "Marla's? Really, Seth?" For the stand was quite an impressive one, and the quality of the food there impeccable, with a high price tag to match. "You're pushing your luck," she growled at the little thief.

Seth ignored her and looked up imploringly at Thea. "This stuff is the best," he added to Chisalu.

Marla, the owner of the stand, was a beefy woman who peered over at Seth with suspiciously. "Hey, don't I know you...?"

Seth merely smiled back placidly; he'd gotten away with a whole platter of steak two weeks ago.

Arrika shot the younger thief a look, but she figured Seth wouldn't insist they go here if he was going to get caught.

"I got a special this week," the burly cook continued, shrugging the feeling off. Green hair wasn't common, but the kids these days were up to their elbows with all those new hair dyes and such. She raised her bloody cleaver and slapped a crudely written sign tacked to one of the stand's posts. "Meat pies, 5 for 40 rupees. Fresh outta the oven."

Chisalu gave the most fierce look up at Thealter, "Nuo" She repeated, as if dreadfully bored by his pronounciation. She looked at Arrika suspiciously. "You can say it, can't you? Nuo. Chisalu Ki Nuo," Arrika did not look familiar to Chisa in the slightest, and there was no reason to suppose that Arrika, who clearly did not come from the same lingual branch as Chisalu, would be able to say her name in the 'right' manner. However, perhaps it was the art of Sheikahn ears to correctly ear it, or perhaps whatever language Arrika had been raised on was suitably similar enough to Chisa's dialect.

That being, if Arrika had been raised in the same pattern as a Nuo was. In the desert. Pinned under animal hides to keep their pale skin from flaking at mid-day. Red-eyes being the impossible always, as babies with the unusual mutant hue of brown, or even more rarely blue, squalled, eyes vulnerable to the harsh sun. Worshippers of the Vulture and Wolf deep down, and always willing to share their shadows. Perhaps it was the pattern before the fall, and perhaps it was a way to survive after the fall. It didn't matter. The Nuo were gone, and the desert was finally quiet. Still, if Arrika had not been raised by others of her blood, she could not possibly know a related dialect. In this was yet another error in logic.

"Chisalu Ki, of Nuo" Chisalu clarified. "Of nuobody" She added the joke, as if not sure how to calculate humour, and gave an awkward laugh.

Her mouth was dripping with saliva again, and Chisalu crammed a bite of bread into her mouth, quickly shifting the rupees to where her knife was, unwilling to relinquish them to anyone. "Mrrf!" A sound somewhere pretty happiness, and horror at the wasting of food by eating it. She tugged on Thealter's sleeve, and swallowed quickly. "You said you were paying Mask-man" She flashed a smile at Seth. "Pay up~!"

Thealter could but nod at the Chisalu. The Nuo subsect - hadn't he courted a Sheikahn scholar once upon a July? Not of the Nuo bloodline, but their rarity and obscurity had come up once, in the times they actually spent talking about scholarly works. Thealter may have been a far more learned man then most think, but women didn't particular like him for that exact trait. They mainly went for him because of his reckless and unromantic attitude, and his looks. He didn't really regret that until now.

He also glanced back at Seth, who had told him about not knowing what he had until he lost it. Thealter may have been able to relate. At least nobody else was asking about his damn mask. He smiled at Seth, though in a friendly manner, not in the form of somebody trying to give Seth the notion they were interested into hooking up into that kind of relationship.

Finally, they were at Marla's stand. That wench who overcharged for her product. Apparently, they could have ordered anything, but it was clear that the rest of their product must not be that great, because they were definitely only pushing the meat pie angle. Or maybe they just didn't want people to see how their meats so strongly resemble the body parts of the local feral cats and dogs. Thealter would eat elsewhere, but clearly the rest were hungry. He wondered if Arrika would want some as well. She probably would; everybody looked pretty hungry at this point. He threw down a orange rupee on the counter of the meat stand. "Eight meat pies, keep the change," he spoke, with a dull tone, not showing his true rage at the incline of the prices.

Marla snorted and spat a yellowy-greenish wad into her apron, then proceeded to wipe her knife with it.

Seth seemed completely oblivious to everything, from Marla's bad hygiene, to Arrika's poorly concealed discomfort, to Thea's lack of interest in men. He hopped up and down when Marla slapped the meat pies onto the counter.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Seth practically purred, nuzzling Thea's arm as he munched away happily. "I mean, it's not as good as the other stuff here... actually, I haven't eaten too many of her meat pies before, but it smells so good!"

"What's... in them?" Arrika asked the beefy woman tentatively, hoping very much it wasn't cat, as that would be akin to cannibalism on Seth's part.

There was a flurry of steel as Marla went about her work, dicing a large hunk of bleeding meat into tinier-than-bite-sized pieces.

"Can't hear ya, honey," Marla bellowed.

"What's... in... them...!?" Arrika said, and immediately shrank back at the sight of the flying knives, regretting any reason to raise her voice.

"What's today?"

"Not sure..."

Marla gave a hacking, wheezing cough, and yelled at the pallid man stoking the oven in the house behind her to hurry up the next bunch. "If it ain't the first week o' the month, it's not cat. There's a lady down Flat Lanes who collects 'em the rest o' the month and-"

"-okay, thanks," Arrika said, offering a smile that ended up being a grimace, and backed away. "Um, here," she said, offering four of the eight pies to Chisa. "Save a couple, so you can... well, I'm sure you know how it goes," she said, ushering the little girl away from the brassy cook. "Thea... maybe we should get her some pants?" She glanced at his pockets; the man had pulled out an orange rupee like it was nothing. He must have found an extremely decent heist lately, she couldn't imagine the spoils from Gossip Isle could have amounted to even that much.

Seth, meanwhile, had wrapped his arms around Thea affectionately, holding the masked man in a tight grip.

OOC: Sorry it took so long to reply, at first I was waiting for Alias, and then I realized that I should probably reply first, but school kept me pretty busy.

IC: Thealter merely tolerated the young boy clinging onto his arm. He wondered how much Seth actually cared about what he thought, or if he took, like the women before him, fell infatuated with his demeanor and appearance. Well, wasn't that what bonded him with Arrika and the first place? Thealter had never missed his careless attitude, not until now, but he wondered how he would ever be so cold and unrelenting again. The future was an uncertain one, but at least it wasn't set in stone. What as that saying Orpheous had once quoted. 'The future is not set. There is no fate but what me make for yourselves.' Would Thealter enjoy his ending fate, would he make the right choices?

He shrugged lightly to himself, before noticing the fact that Arrika had spoken, a while ago, and he had yet to reply to her question. He didn't notice the woman looking at his pockets, but was instead intent of finally giving her her answer. "Yeah...pants would be a good thing to have," he said uncertain at first, as if lost in thought, but then conclusive. Chisalu definitely needed pants.
