Pyre watched as the fight continued, and decided to try to make a definitive shift in the tide of battle. The only way to do that would be to launch a powerful attack. The hylian had just the thing ready to be tested.
He had only used the technique once before, when he had fought with a huge skeletal dragon in a tomb in parapa desert. He decided to give it another shot. The attack was really quite simple, calling upon Pyre's inherent element: fire. The ranger drew out a scroll from a pouch on his belt, and built up a large concentration of magic within himself.
He moved the scroll through the air, letting go of it about three feet above the ground. This sudden movement unrolled it, revealing the hylian rune for fire inscribed on the center of a yellowed piece of paper. He had already sheathed his right dagger, and struck the center of the scroll with his open palm, driving it to the floor.
While he did this, he had perfect concentration. He didn't care about what the stalfos was doing. Lucky for him, Sovelis had just made an attack, so he would be okay for now. Eight small red glowing circles appeared on the ground around the scroll. This was simply the power of the rune. Pyre had not yet released the magical energies that he was holding.
Then it was time to use his other hand. He took his left dirk, and drove it into the center of the scroll, at the same time releasing the pent up magical force. Lines of flame shot from each circle, colliding at the blade hilt. Pyre then took the blade back out of the ground with a flourish, and looked at the results.
The blade was wreathed in fire. Not just around the dirk, but extending to about the length of a greatsword. This fire acted just like the actual blade, but had extended reach, and fire properties. The hylian was ready to go.
He sprang up from the ground, the flame sword raised above his head, and made a powerful, twohanded, overhead chop at the stalfos. He was aiming for the shoulder, and hoped to rend the creatures arm off, and impair its phyical functioning. That would make the fight much easier. It was time to destroy the undead monster.
[Just count the attack as a regular attack, unless you want to add anything to it. Mostly fluff ]

Because the Stalfos is weak, Sovelis' blow stuns the Stalfos. Unable to move or attack, the foul undead monster is exposed to Pyralin's flaming sword. The blazing weapon cuts through the Stalfos like a knife in hot butter. Pyre's goal in chopping the arm off was successfull, but it does not really matter now. The red lights go out in the fiend's eyes, and it topples to the floor, crumbling into a pile of dust before it even lands. In its place, five small hearts appear (Restore 25% HP) and five small Magic Jars (Restore 25% SPL). As well, with a deafening shhhhhingggggg! the bars over the other door recede as well.
The difficult fight is over. Brin picks up a jar and slurps down its contents. (restores 5 SPL). Then he turns his attention to the chest in the center of the room.
"So," he looks around at his fellow adventurers. "Who would like to open the treasure chest?"
OOC: Worru, good question. Well now, since the battle is over, you could volunteer to open the treasure chest... that's just a suggestion.

Satisfaction filled the hylian as his blade easily cut apart the undead monster. As the unearthly light in the stalfos's eyes died out, Pyre took a step back. The flames around his blade were slowly dying away, but he didn't sheath the dirk. Instead he held it at the ready. Who knew what kind of traps were set up in the chest.
He was not going to be the one the risked himself, opening the chest. One of the others could do that. He turned his attention to the door, and began to check for any thing suspicious about it, be it trap or simple markings. [Awareness Check]
Pyre had to be prepared for anything. The environment was quite unstable, and it was hard to predict what could happen next. He knew that being caught off gaurd would be a fatal mistake, and didn't want a prematurally ended life.

OOC: Worru, just to give you a little info so you don't feel completely lost: yes, we are in a dungeon (in a different dimension parallel to Hyrule) in a series of twisting caverns beneath the ground. We were just fighting a quartet of Stalfos in a room with a chest, and now we defeated them.
Sovelis, your new stats are fine to use.
IC:
Pyralin, scanning the door, finds nothing unusual about it. There seem to be no traps whatsoever. Kasei discovers the same thing with his check of the chest.
Brin runs over to Kasei to inspect the item in the chest. "Here, let me look." he takes the item from Kasei's hand and gets a closer look. It is a smooth rock, perfectly carved into a circular shape. Etched into it's seamless surface is a flame shaped symbol.
"No idea what this is," Brin decides. "Let's just keep it anyway." and puts it into his pocket.

Worru lands on his back, after falling from the ceiling. "Why do I always get the scrol of warping?" he stands up, brushes himself off, and turns to the group. "Uhm...Hi?"

"Wait...this chest WAS that wierd pedistil thing..." Sovelis said, relizing what he had just said. "Well, mabye we need to find a hole the stone goes in. Brin, check the map. we need a plan. And we need to find a way out of here."

Pyre watched impassively as Brin picked up the stone. He didn't come rushing over to the chest to check out the nature of the item they found, but instead stood next to the door, waiting for the party to come to a desicion. The hylian just wanted to go with the flow instead of trying to make a plan. He would kill anything that got in his way, and that was that, no questions asked. For now though, he would wait.

Hearing a loud thud on the ground followed by a new voice, Brin spins around and sees the newcomer. "What is your name?" he asks the surprise guest. "Did you come to help us? It's about time we got some more help!"
Waiting for Worru's reply, Brin turns toward Sovelis. "Well, Sovelis, we don't need to go far to find a way out - we could either come back the way we came, or enter the other door. As for the stone, let's just keep it with us for now. I have this feeling that we will know when to use it. Now, for a plan..."
Brin pulls out the dusty scroll that is the map and unfurls it. He traces his finger along the map until he finds the room that the group is in, collecting dust from the map as it moves along.
"Aha, yes." says Brin. "So here's the room we are in. Now the door that opened after we beat the Stalfos, it seems to lead back into the room where I found the map. The way we came leads back to the room where we ran from the Keese, which has a staircase leading from it to the next floor. However, according to the map, another set of bars blocks the staircase. Which means, we'll have to find a switch that retracts the bars. So, which way should we go?"
