OOC
Nice to see you back in the event, Leth. Don't worry about forgetting about this topic, I just returned to it after a couple of months away from HA2. And it wasn't really a "battle" with the keese - the swarm of Keese that was left from before was entirely wiped out by Sovelis' well-executed elemental explosion.

Guys, I'd like to let you know that on the 12th I will be leaving on summer vacation and will return sometime around August 1. During that time I will not have internet access, so I will not be able to reply to the event until I return.

Sovelis' healing magic restores Brin nearly to full health, and he is ready to move on. "Thank you, my friend," he addresses Sovelis, "But now you are low on magic power, which is never a good situation for a mage. Hopefully we will find some way to replenish our magic very soon.
Now Brin responds to Kasei. "Hm..., so little we really do know about each other. Well, I grew up with my grandfather, Brell, on a small cottage in the fields of Hyrule, not far from North Castle. I used to visit North Castle all the time, in fact. My grandfather was a mage, as I am now, and I always begged him to explain to me the secrets of magic. But he argued that I was too young to learn the ways of the mage. But he never got the chance to teach me, however, for he mysteriously died one day, but three years ago. I thought it was the cause of an uncommon disease, but now I know better. So anyway, after the death of my grandfather, I had no one. I had never had many friends, and the few I once had I had long ago parted ways with. So I left my cottage and began to roam Hyrule in search of new friends, and someone to teach me magic. Then I met Sage Artorius, whom many mages have received training from, and he agreed to teach me magic. Armed with magic, I set out trying to learn more about what became of my grandfather. And that search led me to the Temple of the Forgotten Legends, where I mysteriously disappeared, thought to be dead. In actuality, I stumbled upon a dimensional rift leading to Termina, and there I uncovered more of the truth. Once I had learned what I needed, and in doing so experienced horrible things, I found a way back to Hyrule and recruited a band of warriors who I knew could help... all of you who are with me now. And that is my story. What is yours, Kasei? I too know little of you."

Brin heads up the stairs, and waits at the top of the staircase for the others to follow.

Kasei looked over at Brin. "Me, eh? Well, a little something, i'm older than I look, and more experienced than that. I used to live in a peacfull shiekah villiage in Tantari, but that was destroyed my my own grandfather. I eventually became a mercinary, and then I ended up here." Kasei said, clearly not telling the whole story. The shiekah warrior smiled, and continued down the passage.

"You already know my story." Sovelis said. He didn't seem to be very talkative now that he was worn out. "What are we going to do Brin? We are here, wherever 'HERE' is, and I doubt that we all stand a chance." he said as he looked over the party. Leth was okay to have in a fiht, and so was Kasei. Sovelis didn't know enough about Brin's combat abilities to say anything. "We beter keep moving." Sovelis said as he sighed.

The party heads up the stairs. Ever-burning magical torches line the walls. They are made from brass and the multicolored flames that flicker within seem to be burning absolutely nothing. The floor feels especially damp, and a strange moss lines the walls. It is turquoise in color and looks very tough and spongy. Straight ahead is a small circular room, and there is a mass off some kind of black... stuff, all over the ceiling. At the other side of the room, the hallway continues with more wall-torches, until the floor seems to end, possibly the edge of some kind of pit. Everything is completely silent, except for the breathing of the group of adventurers. Brin breaks the silence.

"This is very strange, and very different from the floor below. All of this mossy stuff wasn't growing downstairs, so why here? And the floor feels extremely slippery. What do you guys think?"

Brin continues to look around at the new environment, searching for clues of what all this could be about.

Leth unknowingly quoted a famous line... "I have a bad feeling about this..."

"Mabye some water from above helped this moss-stuff grow..." Sovelis said as he poked the stuff growing on the walls with his mechanical hand. "Chill Leth, we should be fine, as long as we are carefull. This isn't the kind of place to freak out...Hey Brin. Whats at the end of these stairs? What does the map say?" Sovelis asked the groups leader.

OOC: I'm back from my vacation now.

IC:

At Sovelis' request, Brin unfurls the dungeon map and inspects their current location on floor B1. He places the map on the damp ground (getting it slightly wet) so that the entire party can see. Pointing at a staircase sketched onto the map, Brin explains, "Those are the stairs we just ascended," Then he slides his finger down that map to a circular room. "That is the small room ahead," and he points to a large room further down, "And that is where there is some kind of pit." He points further down the map, past the pit in the ground, to another staircase with an up-arrow beside it. "That staircase presumably goes to the surface. We'll have to cross that pit to get to it. Or... if we turn left just before the pit, we can take a longer route that will also end up at the stairs that lead above ground. What do you think, my friends?"

Leth nodded in approval. "I vote for the longer way; I see no way to get over that gap..." Leth looked up at the group. "But if anyone else has an Idea, please let it be heard now." he says.

"The long way." Sovelis repeated. ''I doubt that I'd be able to jump that pit, with so little energy left...we are so gonna get our backsides handed to us..." Sovelissounded worried as he studied the map before him.

"So... exactly how long is the 'long way'?" Leth asks. "If it's more and more rooms, then... Hmm..."

"Well, if you look here," Brin gestures at a place on the map, "We turn left at the pit, go down a hallway, up a flight of stairs, across a passage directly above us, and into rather large room. Past that room, the passage forks left and right. The right takes us to a small room with a treasure chest, according to the map, and the left takes us to a smaller room that branches in three directions - to the other side of the pit, to the room with the treasure chest, and the stairs to the surface." Brin rolls up the map and puts it away. "Well, since the passage we'll take leads off of the room with the pit, we might as well look and see what's in the pit, and how deep it is. Let's go!"

At that moment, the black stuff on the ceiling in the next room begins to shift and make sounds. Flapping sounds. Squeaking sounds. Red eyes glint here and there. Realization dawns upon Brin, and he yells "KEESE!!! RUN!!!"

The swarm of little black bats detaches from the ceiling and rushes toward the party like a cloud of noxious gas. But all hopes to run in the other direction are dashed as another cloud of Keese flies up the stairs. Surrounded on both sides, everyone's vision is obscured as the thousands of pesty creatures envelop them.

Leth jumps up at the swarm of annoying bats. "Gee whiz. This dungeon is full of these hairy pests, isn't it? He took a step back, and cast Elemental Burst. (I think. I can't remember how much SPL I have left.

OoC: I've got enough magic for one Jump spell...I feel smart now.

IC: Sovelis swung his staff at the swarm of flying rodents that had started up agian. "We need to get out of here, and fast! Brin, you lead, and we'll follow!" he said as he thought he felt his staff crunch a keese.

Sovelis' staff makes contact with a single Keese (11 Damage inflicted) and instantly kills the weak monster.
Leth's Elemental Burst (It became Earth-type) blasts another Keese (14 Damage) with a heavy chunk of stone.
Brin, low on magical power, decides to cast Spell (rolls a 17 on 20-sided). He waits, but nothing happens, except that he is drained of more magical power. "Ugh!" he yells. "It did nothing!"

There are 28 Keese remaining, and now they are angry. The Keese attack. Eight swoop down on Sovelis, and sink their teeth into his flesh (2 DMG each). 10 decide to go forth Leth, scratching him with their sharp claws (1 DMG each). 2 bite Brin (2 DMG each) and 3 scratch him (1 DMG each) while the remaining five head towards the nearest wall torches and set themselves on fire, becoming Fire Keese. This does not look good.

"Sovelis, there's too many," yells Brin over the din of flapping wings. "Even if we did escape, they can follow us! The only option is to fight our way through them!"

OOC: Cool, I lose nothing.

IC: "This could be a bad situation, but theres always a way to victory, we just have to find where it is." Kasei said, then charged magic and cast shield (L3) on himself so that he had time to divise a plan. "Kay, these are Keese, right? What are we scared of? Everyone with a projectile weapon should use it now, seeing as how they can dodge close-combat weapons."
