A one floor house rests on the border of the Tantari Desert and Hyrule Field. It is shabby, with shattered windows, peeling paint, and splintering walls. Inside a girl with dark brown, curly hair lies motionless in bed. She is stuck in an eternal slumber, and although her family may hope she will rise one day it will never be so. Her mother, growing thinner and paler with each passing day, motions to one of her sons for a glass of water, for she cannot speak. Her eyes stray to a corner of the room where another of her sons stands, frozen, a living statue, his eyes still wide open with shock.
"Mom..." The youngest son, thankfully the only one unharmed, said timidly. "When are Dad and Elicia coming back?" He asked, for he had been wondering where his father and older sister, both skilled mercenaries, had been.
His mother shrugged, then pointed to a gold chain around her neck. It was her second son's, but he had given it to her before setting off in search of a way to break their curse.
"When Russell comes back..." The boy said, speaking for his mother. "When is he coming back then?"
At this the older woman shooed him away, a tired look on her face.
"Mom, he's not gonna be any help. Why don't you let ME go instead-" The woman cut him off, holding her youngest child to her as if she would never let him out of her sight again.
The only reason I haven't left home myself is because of her, The boy thought. If I go, she'll die. I can feel it. Russell... hurry...

Love is a strange thing, and it will be the only thing that frees me and my family from our curse. Lately I've had doubts... my family never made me feel like one of them, so why should I help them at all? If it weren't for the curse affecting me at the same time, I would leave them all but my mother to rot.
