Upon one of the library's many tables, to be used for those who need to read, one volume of the Hyrulian Mysteries series, the volume containing information on strange things that began with the letter 'S', laid open on the table, already on the most extensive of all sections of the book, the legend of the 'Sleipner'. The section the page showed went as follows:
THE LEGENDARY FLYING MACHINE, SLEIPNER
It is well known that there have been myths of a race of beings that, instead of the Goddesses, created the Hylian race. This race is the Oocco, a race of flying creatures that, while the Rito can also fly, the two are quite different, though these differences have been so debated over, we cannot list them.
However, it has been known that the Oocco had invented many powerful devices, from a scepter said to bring statues to life, to a magestic flying city, where it is said that they lived. All, if not most of these, were used by the Hero of Twilight, another member of the Link lineage, as he saved the first Hyrule from being overtaken by the Twilight Realm, which seems to have popped up every once in a while in Hyrulian history.
Stories aside, their most secret of creations is the fabled Sleipner, which is said to have been able to let the races not blessed with the ability to fly, travel around the skies as if it was a skill they had been born with. Now, while the name has been set into stone, there are facts that are debated, and others that are, too, set into stone. These shall be listed here, with the facts first, and assumptions later on:
Facts
1. Sleipner is black and silver in color.
It has been said in every story of the mythical machine that the main body was an obsidian black in color, while the wings that kept it aloft, as well as other features to be named later, were a silver in color.
2. The Sleipner has eight wings, four on both sides.
While the wing's design are not set in stone, it is known that, for reasons unknown to us, that Sleipner has a total of eight wings.
Assumptions
1. The use of the Sleipner.
There are only two views on the Sleipner's use, the most common being that it is a ship merely designed to let Hylians enjoy flight, the second being that it is a war machine, with the wings like metallic, skeletal blades instead of the streamlined build they have been shown to have, and even cannons lining the bottom and sides of the machine.
2. The power source of the Sleipner.
The Sleipner, in any text known to even give the slightest mention of it, has no mention of the source its power, what keeps it moving, even with no wind to propel it.
3. The location of the Sleipner.
The debate is many-sided over where the Sleipner is hidden, from it being aloft in the City in the Sky, supposed name of the floating castle that the Oocco reside in, to it being far under the Great Sea, in the first Hyrule. While these areas are chosen for the fact no one can get to them, at least with any real ease in the finding part, it is also possible it is hidden somewhere within our own Hyrule itself. There have been several reports of such, or at least a way of going to these places, recorded a great many times in tellings of the story of the Sleipner, but the only detail lies in a map that hasn't been found yet.
The page ends there, waiting for someone to turn it.
