[Music= The Endless Torment]
The ocean.
Endlessness.
The unknown.
How he wished he still feared and respected such things.
Immortality over time, came with the toll of one's sanity. The samurai stared out at sea, remembering once how vast he thought it was... When really, it was no more vast than the tiny little planet he lived on. He looked woefully upon the horizon, wishing dearly that there were still mysteries... Still uncertainties. He longed to again go on a journey where he felt some sort of danger. The adrenaline was rare these days, and he didn't know that it was the rush that he lived for until it was too late.
Dogura's eyes remained unchanging as he looked down at his feet in the sand. He stood motionless as he stared. Always this spot... What was it with this spot that continued to draw him here. He looked back at the sea, and his thoughts again plagued him. He knew what lay beyond the ocean. He knew the torment of the underworld... He knew the tenacity of the heavens. He knew it all. He'd seen so much. The knowledge that he sought all his life. He had it.
All of it.
It began to drive him mad. There must be more to know. There must be. He dropped to his knees in anguish, and twisted his face up in turmoil. There would never be an end to it. His misery would be eternal- another toll of immortality. The never ending torment of outliving all that you love. The thoughts were beginning to peel away the fabric of his mind. He gripped his head tightly. It was a nightmare that he couldn't wake from. An old friend's words rang throughout his head...
"For me . . . freedom. The power to do whatever I want, without answering to anyone. I can go anywhere I want, do whatever I want, and not worry about the consequences because I can simply leave if I don't like them. And no one can stop me."
Dogura realized now how naive he was back then. He was doomed to a life of certainty now. He couldn't die. He rarely found a challenge suitable for his strength anymore. He had grown too strong. It seemed that now... The only challenge suitable for him... Would be to follow the plan.
