Backstory

Many years ago, Arco's father and mother met and married in Blind's Gang. Although Arco was their only child, his parents would not authorize his enlistment into the Gang with them--at least, at that age. Rather, he was sent to Death Mountain to develop his mind and physical frame in mining ore with the Gorons. This was his trade for several years: mining, quarrying, and metalworking; of which most of the products went to the gang.

Now several years from then, Arco has finally been called back to be officially associated with Blind's Gang--the enlistment of which is still to be carried out. Having progressed from his earlier occupation and its completed purpose, Arco is now to hone for himself skills and abilities that will be of use--and possibly benefit--to the Gang.

In his mid-twenties, Arco is a dull character. His wit has remained limited to unintentionally dry retorts while his wisdom is simply limited; a span of foundationless logic and basic practical knowledge. It is uncommon for him to get excited about anything, a trait applying to his thoughts on people's opinions (and particularly his own). Rather, he follows whatever crowd he can ascertain as the "right" one--not necessarily one of order, an important distinction when involving the Gang. Arco's parents have (since their enlistment) risen to the senior ranks and are nowadays relatively unconcerned about their son's present course. Lacking an edge, flair, or any noticeable personality traits (save his curious vapidity), it's not like there's too much trouble for him to get into. Very few things bring this one alive, save one activity in particular...

Appearance (Outdated)

Arco stands five feet and ten inches tall. His frame, normal to Sheikahs, is thin; however, unlike most Sheikahs and despite years of working in the mines, to call him "lithe" might be a bit of a stretch. One racial characteristic amplified by his years working with the Gorons is the pale skin which almost shows a tint of gray in certain lighting. A darker shade of the gray rests in his eyes--not dead, but more... still. His light brown hair reflects the same tint; physically, there is little else remarkable about Arco. His garments usually revolve around a theme of a long coat over loose pants, ranging from earth tones to a grey-blue.

Miscellaneous information

Character Growth
Note: At least several months of time took place in between each of the following stages.

1) Arco is new to the real world, albeit being a solid 26 years of age. Searching for a new trade and/or line of skills, he tries to be a "good adventurer" by doing everything there is to do out there. Apparently, he has trouble taking in everything at once, though. There's not much about him for anyone to get excited about and there's not too much that gets him too excited. He doesn't speak much, even in the presence of Gorons, which brings back memories (recent ones) and helps him to feel at home. In general he's just scouting out the world, taking in sights and sounds.

2) One thing has led to another. Of all things, Arco has found a certain joy--or is it an obsession?--in music. Purchasing an instrument and learning his first pieces of music has set him on a course to continue his advenures as a Bard, which in turn, at last, qualifies him for enlistment in Blind's Gang. Finally in the ranks, he hopes soon to see his parents for the first time since his last metalworking run, which was some time ago.
And slowly, gradually, the Bard has begun to sort out the social norms of Hyrule. Each encounter with another person (or thing) in his travels brings some explanation to how things are and should be, from shaking hands to toasting with drinks. Dagger and hurdy-gurdy at his waist, he does his best to, as he was always encouraged to from childhood, "Make some real friends." Hard to say whether he's succeeding in that regard so far. And as it always does, time passes...

3) Now somewhat better acquainted with an unsheltered life and all of its civil reverberations, Arco's newest understandings are those of music in a combat setting, of loyalty and the binding nature of friendships, and--perhaps--of deep emotion and affection. Less a wanderer than a shadow of a man that shows up only rarely, he is currently almost exclusively seen aiding or meddling in the individual affairs of his most familiar acquaintances.
That is, other than one unexpected occurrence having to do with his being listed as a threat to the clandestine military operations of far-away Calatia, involving a battle with an Assassin whom Arco had never met and which resulted in a near-death experience on the Bard's part. He was last seen in North Castle, where he can be expected to be recovering from severe burns for quite some time.

4) ---

Roleplay-Related Talents

Speak: Goronic: Having worked with Gorons for several years of his life (and the odd mannerisms show), Arco has picked up a good deal of Goronic. Of course, there are some rough edges to his learned dialect (some shades of vocabulary just doesn't come into play when all you do is mine for and smith ore all day), but a good grasp of the mountainous slang and colloquiallisms helps him get around what he can't translate off the top of his head. The more ancient and sophisticated carvings never fail to puzzle, though.

Dig: While a body can get very far in mining using a wide assortment of picks, hammers, axes, and shovels, many Gorons find that their very arms and hands can serve many of the above purposes and more; the more resistant walls of rock that jeer at pickaxes find their match in a Goron's personal smashing techniques. Plus, one's own limbs are more readily available. Arco eventually realized this and, to equal parts surprise and mockery, trained his own hands to Goronic Digging strength. It is a mystery how he managed it with his ropy build and unimpressive arms, but rumor says that a mastery of Dig was preceded by a mastery of the mind. This is (very much) subject to debate, though (particularly in Arco's case).
