Mythical Creatures - Ganon?

I found this... rather interesting description of a mythical creature called an "Al."

In ancient Persian legend they're half human and half beast, having eyes like fire and tusks like a boar, iron teeth brass claws and copious shaggy hair.

The description of it's physical form seems similar to Ganon... And since Persia is (or rather, was) in the Middle East, where the Gerudo seem to be based from... It just adds more to it, don't you think?

And there's another... well, mythical it is, but I'm not sure about it being a creature. It's more a spiritual being than anything else. It's called the "ba," and it's half of what the human body is seperated into after death in Egyptian culture. The Ka, the other half, is the perishable body, and the ba, on the other hand, is a bird with a human head and represents the imperishable soul.

It sounds a lot like the Ooccoa to me. Seing as how they created the Temple of Time and the entirety of Hylians, then... they probably are at least somewhat mythical. Of course, I'm not really so sure about this one. Human heads and bird bodies and in a lot of mythical creatures, like Sirens, Harpies, etc. But the Ba is generally bird-sized, and the other races/creatures are more human-sized.

I'm currently reading up on some more. I'll edit this post if I find anymore. (They'll be below this line.)

EDITS: Bakru are a South American race of people, approximately half the size of human child, but with oversized heads. They are half flesh and half wood. They are considered evil creations of magicians.

That sounds a lot like a Deku Scrub to me. But even more than the Scrubs, they sound like Skull Kid. He has bark-like flesh, and he's the size of a human child... And Skull Kids attack you and are considered an enemy in Ocarina and Twilight.

Isaiah 59:5 reads, "They break the eggs of asps and weave the spider's web; he who would eat their eggs, having crushed the wind egg [ourion] finds in it a basilisk."

The Wind Egg... that sounds a lot like it could be the Egg of the Wind Fish. Well... I've never played that game, so... ^w^; I don't have much to say about it. But it sounds like if the egg had been hatched pre-maturely, then inside wouldn't be the Wind Fish, but a monster.

The Black Annis is described as witch-like in appearance with blue skin and a single piercing eye, often described as a hideous old hag.

The Poe salesman/woman in OoT, where you get the bottle... She/he has purple/blueish tinted skin, if I remember right. And a single piercing eye, as well as being... it seems like they're old, but they could be infinitely younger. ^w^; This one's got less evidence to back it up.

It does add more, I agree.

The Persian Al does sound similar to the recent Ganon designs (from Ocarina of Time up through the console games), especially the Ocarina of Time design, which is easily the most human-like of all the Ganon designs (it's got thumbs!). I can imagine some designer, having some hand in designing the Gerudo, finding a Middle Eastern myth that would have contributed to Ganon's design.

Oh, and Persia's still there- it's called Iran now. Same country.

As for the Egyptian ba, it's the human soul of a deceased person. I can see the design being influenced by the ba, but not much else. In the games, the Oocca seem to have become mythical to the population at large, akin to the Minish in The Minish Cap.

The rest really stand on their own.

that's really interesting, maybe I should look for other info that relates to this

I know, but I meant that Persia isn't the name anymore. xD; Sorry if that confused you.

Mysterious F.

In ancient legemds, half humans half beasts are usually creatures that have half a human body half a beast body, while Ganon turns into a beast.

Akatsuki, that's why I said the Al sounds the most like Ocarina of Time Ganon rather than the more recent Ganon designs, such as the one from Twilight Princess. Ocarina of Time Ganon could wield weapons and could be bipedal.

Mysterious F.

All except TP Ganon can wield weapons.

Yes, but all the previous Ganons are patterned after domesticated pigs (wild ones aren't hairless) rather than wild boars, which I imagine would be much more plausible in a desert setting.

Master Dragmire

In TP, Ganon's Dark Beast is a giant boar.... Im just pointing this out for you guys to discuss....
