The Goddesses...

All right, so I have a few questions for y'all.

The main goddesses throughout the series are Din, Farore, and Nayru, but many more are worshipped throughout.  Assuming that those other goddesses actually exist, and aren't just cult-like obsessions, how many are there?  How do they fit into everything?

Also-- if the Goddess of the Sand gets a temple devoted to her (The Spirit Temple, kids), then why don't the Three get a temple as well?  I mean, they may have the Sacred Realm and the Temple of Time, but those aren't really technically devoted to them.

Also, while we're on this topic, did the goddesses create Termina?  If not, who did?  If they didn't this could really support my theory that Termina is nothing more than a state of mind for Link.  (As a minor segway, think about it.  'Termina' is the plural form of 'Terminus' which means 'a point where something or somethings end'.  Hmm...)

Anyhow, I need to know about all this if y'all have any super-nerds besides me here, and I'm also curious as to anyone who might have any evidence to prove or disprove something here.

Only serious posts/people, please.

Well, the Tower of the Gods could count.

First off, the Goddess of Sand was never really confermed to be a goddess. My guess is that she is just a legendary gerudo warrior or someone else who the gerudo treat like a goddess.

Other than that, and the goddess of time mentioned in MM, what other goddesses are there anyway?

I have mixed feelings about Termina's origin, now that I look at the characters' nearly ridiculous roles and the whacky music and all, I think it could very well be a product of Link's imagination, so then it really it is HIS creation and no one else's, I think that leaves the Godesses question out of the way.

As for the goddess of Sand, some games imply that the races in Hyrule tend to lean on one of the three goddesses (for example, the Zora with Nayru and Kokiri with Farore). So I think the Goddess of Sand could be a representation of one of the three goddesses (namely, Din) and with time came to be called like that by the gerudo.

Hi no Seijin

For my recent fanfics, I don't have the goddesses responsible for creating the land of Hyrule.  Hyrule and the races were already there, and the goddesses just gave them a boost into a more civilized country.  Over the years, when this particular part of history became legend, they were credited with the creation of the land and races of Hyrule.

As for Termina...well, I haven't really given it much thought since my fanfic The Legend of Hyrule, and I probably won't even take anything I used there into consideration if I visit Termina again, seeing as how lately I've been thinking of that fanfic as flushing out my fanboyism.  I'll probably go the way of parallel universe, where Termina is Hyrule if a different event concerning the creation of Hyrule took place instead of the "original" event.

As you can see, I took artistic license for everything, never mind evidence found in the games that would contradict what I said. ;)

Of course, concerning the legend of Hyrule's creation, it's just that:  a legend.  And legends are mostly exaggerations of the actual event, are they not?

Do I have to keep pointing out Zephos and Cyclos in these kinds of threads?

Also, I was gonna point out that we didn't really have any evidence that Din, Nayru, or Farore existed either...but then I remembered Twilight Princess.

God damnit. :-*

Edit: Oh, and didn't it say in MM that the Four Giants created Termina, or am I remembering wrong?

Hi no Seijin

You're remembering wrong, as far as I know.  I checked the section for Granny's stories on TDC, and it was saying that the giants are protectors of Termina.

I love you already.  That's very well-put, and you should think about being a professional theorist here. :D

Anyhow, I'm very glad to see that so many people here are up on things, and aren't just here to talk about how they're a huge Link fanboy or anything.

And yeah, the giants didn't create Termina, they're just 'protector gods.
