I was reading the Minish Cap manga, and by no means do I consider it canon, but at the end I noticed that Vaati's minish form has a taurus sign on it. Then I noticed the similarity to Vaati's overall Eye form... It looks just like the Taurus symbol! The horns are... well, the horns above the circle, and the circle is... the eye.

I thought nothing of it until recently, when I was cruising through Half-price books, and came across this Mythology dictionary. Being a fan of mythology, I opened it, and the first article was the letter "A." It said that it was used to represent the ox. The ox is generally associated with power, which Vaati craved. And because I can't explain this at all without confusing anyone, this is a direct quote from Wikipedia's article on A.

"The letter A is used as a symbol for the universal affirmative proposition in the general form "all x is y." The letters I, E, and O are used respectively for the particular affirmative "some x is y," the universal negative "no x is y," and the particular negative "some x is not y." The use of these letters is generally derived from the vowels of the two Latin verbs affirmo (or AIo), "I assert," and nego, "I deny." The use of the symbols dates from the thirteenth century, though some authorities trace their origin to the Greek logicians."

"I assert." Assertiveness is generally associated with power, though very mildly. "I deny" could refer to his abandoning Ezlo as his tutor.

In some ancient Greek legend or something, (I'm sorry, I can't remember. >w<) they say they placed Alpha (A) first in the Alphabet because it meant ox, and it seemed the most important. "First, get a house and a wife, and an ox." - Works and Days by Hesiod.

Therefore, Alpha comes first, and Vaati wanted to be the first with the light force.

Alphano means "to yield, earn." As if Vaati needed to earn his power correctly, and as such turned into such a wicked beast.

Now, going from A to Alpha to the atrological sign, Taurus:

"Persistent and determined
Jealous and possessive
Resentful and inflexible
Self-indulgent and greedy"

Those traits symbolise Vaati a lot, in my opinion.

In the mythology dictionary I was looking through, it had more symbolism. I'm really kicking myself for not buying it right about now. If I see it again and buy it, or just find more symbolism about it, then I'll update.

(By the way, feel free to tell me that I'm going in way too deep with this; I feel the same way in a weird way.)

Odd, like the newest article, by Seth, on the main page, it seems as if either Nintendo actually adds a lot more than we think, or there are many coincidenses. But, good find, it was interesting.

Maybe Nintendo has secretly made some future plot developments, but are giving small clues to people who have certain knowledge. They've probably already done something with Zant that people haven't noticed yet, that could be major later.

Well, I don't know much about zodiac signs, but I did notice he has a little design of his eyeball form quite a while ago. But I thought the element for Taurus was fire. If Vaati's a wind sorcerer, don't you think his zodiac sign would be something with wind? (If there is one) Also, if I might add, I think that symbol just foreshadows what Vaati will look like when he becomes his eyeball form.
