Anti-profanity

Okay, I am going to drop this "anti-profanity" forum now.

But if anyone wants to hear about this belief of mine, like I said, I MIGHT make a forum about it. If I get enough "yes" votes. :)

Don't get me wrong, I still hate profanity, and don't think it existed in Hyrule, but I'm not going to argue about it anymore. It is obvious I am the only one who thinks these things. :(

Well I do think that for a guy of your age, you are somewhat disconnected from reality. They are games made by a bunch of Japanese guys, there is nothing historicly relevant about them.
But of course, those are just my beliefs (or are they just mine?)

Well, my beleif includes how these Japanese guys did not exactly come up with the stories in the games, but rather one of them found an ancient book from which he translated the stories into the games. :o

Y'know, profanity is different based on where you are. It's not in the Bible, it's not in the Constitution, it's all unwritten rules. I mean, in Britain 'spaz' is profanity. It's something completely manmade and subjective.

Here's my take on swearing: I don't care if others do it, just so long as they don't overdo it and use discretion and have respect for others when choosing to do so. If they overdo it, I think they sound like vulgar morons with a small vocabulary. Otherwise, I can tolerate others dropping the F-bomb or whatever now and then. People swearing is inevitable in any society, no matter how frowned-upon or discouraged it may be. In fact, that's probably one of the major reasons it's used: to break rules and be a rebel. Personally, I keep a cap on any swearing I may do, especially around others. I just feel this is being respectful.

Is a simple word, a simple arrangement of letters, really bad if nobody else saw it as bad. Swearing isn't wrong, it's only wrong because some people have a strange belief that it is. If you ban it you ban free speech.

For example, if I said the F Word now on this forum, would I get told off for saying a simple word which I don't see as offensie because some people don't like the word. I don't like certain things but you don't see me complaining to a moderator because it has offended me :P, point said.

Swearing has been around for ages!
People used to eff and blind to their hearts content, I'm not exactly sure how long ago but I'm pretty sure at least as far back as the British middle Ages.
The F word as you call it has been used for centuries  it's only quite recently really become 'vulgar' to say it.
If people deemed it so you could make any word a swear word, for example a lot of our swear words we use were ctually created as softer terms to be used, but because they were used in place of the original words, they became just as 'offensive' themselves.
