I've been wondering this ever since I set foot in the Gerudo Desert: What happened to everything? All the Gerudo had suddenly disappeared like they were never their. What used to be the Gerudo Foretress was now a few ruins that looks like what used to be a town. The only possible Gerudo is Telma, and only Nintendo can officially confirm that.

So, what happened to the Gerudo? They're mentioned only as the name of the desert, amd for the record don't even exist. It's like they've basically vanished. There's proof they didn't die yet in FSA, but that happens many years from now. Are the Gerudo gone?

You're assuming the desert in TP was the same area as the one in OoT. I mean, where was the Spirit Temple in TP and the Arbiter's Grounds in OoT?

And if you're right, they could've just moved further into the desert. And that's assuming they all lived in the same place, the Gerudo Fortress, in the first place. And I don't think that's very likely. Ergo they probably just abandoned the fortress.

But the foretress doesn't even exist anymore. It is very possible most of them left Hyrule to another desert, but mabye something else happened.

Ok, think of it this way. Thier leader tried to take over Hyrule and was responsible for many deaths, plus they were thieves anyway. Nabooru's help as a sage may have put thier reputation back somewhat, but there were still probly many who held grudges against the Gerudo. If I were them I would have moved.

By the way, why is it that everyone assumes that when a race in Zelda is absent in a game, it died off or evolved (eg. Gerudo and Deku in TP, Zora in WW,)?

Use your imagination!  You don't need evidence from the games to support your story that they grew wings and flew to Holodrum.

Because some people don't realize there's an entire world outside that of the games. They're not thinking outside of the box.

Not everybody likes making crap up in their theories, and, if they do, they try to stick as close to the established canon, or common sense, as possible. Why don't you get down off your high horse, and stop acting like your way is the best way.

Lolz. Not quite. I'm just saying that you can't just make up stuff that doesn't make any sense, i.e. your "Gerudo sprouting wings and flying to Holodrum" example.

...Well, you can, but you seem to come into these kind of threads stating something and expecting people to conform to your point of view. There's nothing wrong with your theories, per se. Just that you shouldn't go around saying "Use your Imagination!™, anything is possible!" like it's some sort of universal truth in theory building.

And P.S. I never said that thinking outside the box was something everybody had to do. :P

Eh, I'm just throwing it out there as a possibility for some comic relief instead of adhering strictly to what can be found in games.  As much as I enjoy reading well thought out theories, some outrageous theory that can only be explained by an ungodly amount of magic can be quite refreshing.

Y'know, those creatures that live in the sand are called Geldmen.

Geld=Ge-ru-do

I think NoA most likely is to blame. It's possible that the desert is named after those creatures, rather than the race.

According to the translations from Japanese to Englsih, where a u is put at the end of every consinent that doesn'tr have a vowel after it and l and r are the same thing, that actually makes very big sense.
