It's actually midevial inspired clothes he uses... Folks in the midevial used the same clothing style as most Hylians. Or vica verca...

The pointy hat was often used by juggelers and travelers in the Midevial. They had cloakes and capes with hoods who ended like Link's hat. In the pointy end they carried money, or other small items.
