First of all, it depends on what you mean by "alien." "Extraterrestrial life form" would be a more correct term; an alien is anyone who originally lives outside a certain area, be it a country and/or continent. Secondly, a UFO can be real if it's a flying object that hasn't been identified, hence "unidentified flying object." A plane from another country could be an unidentified flying object if the government hasn't identified it.

So, short and to the point, being an alien/extraterrestrial or a UFO is relative.
