true, Zelda is also a lefty. In the concept drawings she always wields the sword with her left.Besides, which hand you use isn't hereditary...I think...

it is

but i'm not sure if it is OoT link... too much doubt

chicknumber2

i like the hero's shade now i think he's cool ;D

LadyNintendo

I actually tend to believe he really isn't after replaying and meeting him again.

Suppose he is a Link, he says he wasn't able to pass on his knowledge to the ones who came after him (or something like that). Now, I believe there could've been one other Link between OOT and TP, but I still need at least two for the sentence to make sense. I'm gonna be mean: OOT Link didn't have the moves taught by HS.

Eralk Fang

I think, with the songs, they're trying to make it, at least, feel like Ocarina of Time-era Link. As said above, the songs are the Oath of Order and the Song of Healing from Majora's Mask, and the Minuet of Forest from Ocarina of Time.  However, as LadyNintendo says, that Link didn't know the moves he's teaching this current Link. This could be explained away by saying that the Ocarina of Time-era Link, after Majora's Mask, went and learned them elsewhere and then returned home to Hyrule, but still... it's far-fetched. The Majora's Mask songs point to Ocarina of Time-era Link, as he's the only Hylian we know that's ever been to Termina (and I doubt the Hero's Shade is Skullkid!). The Minuet of Forest could be explained away as a common song in the forested areas of Old Hyrule after Ocarina of Time, so that doesn't really make me think. It's the Majora's Mask songs that make me think it's Ocarina of Time-era Link. But then why appear as a golden wolf to this Link? Does the Hero's Shade transform in Twilight? Oh, so many questions.

Hero Link

I have played the game again, and i have read something like this from HS.

"Only those with the hero's blood, can learn these attacks." and "Those who have the hero's blood, will turn into a wolf."

I dunno if it wrong... But something like that...

LadyNintendo

okay, that you're making up. I've replayed the game recently and I KNOW he doesn't say that. Never!

And no, Link is not the only Hyrulean to go to Termina. Forgot about The Happy Mask Salesman? It's not impossible his descendants/family also went to Termina, that another Hyrulean went to Termina or better, that a Terminan CAME to Hyrule. After all, Tatl and Tael also appear to be from Termina.

And I don't care about those few songs that people recognize. I want to know what each of them is, so I can figure out if anyone else could have known them. And since I can't recognize two of them, if OOT Link knew them all.

Eralk Fang

Oops! I'm remembering my Majora's Mask wrong- I was of the mind the path couldn't be reused after Majora's Mask, but it obviously still can be, and totally forgot about the Happy Mask Salesman. Sorry about that, LadyNintendo.

The Oath to Order, The Song of Healing, and the Minuet of Forest are the only three songs used in any other Zelda titles that the Hero's Shade howls. The others are original compositions for Twilight Princess, and are either used just for the Howling Stone or re-used elsewhere in the game. If anyone knows that another song is absolutely used (not just that you think it is, but the structure of the two songs are identical), please correct me!

The Happy Mask Salesman is the one who teaches Link the Song of Healing, so that song can't point to just Ocarina of Time-era Link, since The Happy Mask Salesman probably spread the song around, seeing as it's useful. The Oath to Order is taught to Link by one of the four giants, and therefore could possibly be an old and well-known song of Termina.

So the songs don't scream out "I AM OCARINA OF TIME-ERA LINK!", but they certainly point to someone with a working knowledge of Termina, and currently, the only "Hero" (Link) with a working knowledge of Termina is Ocarina of Time-era Link. Although it would be awesome if there was a title wherein the hero is Link's Terminan counterpart saving Termina instead of Hyrule, and he turns out to be the Hero's Shade, having settled in Hyrule for some bizarre reason. Heh. I'm more of the mind now that he's a very good possibility, but that doesn't mean the Hero's Shade is not another Hero.

Evahn

Actually, I don't think the other is Minuet of Forest. I believe it's one of the other warping songs from OoT though; either Requiem of Spirit or Nocturne of Shadow, I have always gotten those two mixed up.

Eralk Fang

Hmm. Wikipedia says Minuet of Forest in its Twilight Princess article, but Wikipedia's not infallible. If you've heard the howling stone in question recently, here's a link to vgmusic.com's section with Ocarina of Time in it, to compare the song in question to Ocarina of Time songs:

Hero Link

There is also Prelude of Light.

Evahn

I think it's Nocturne of Shadow. I'm not sure about Prelude of Light, but it's a possibility for another. I'm going to be playing through again very soon; I think I should just record the Hero's Shade songs and upload them somewhere so we all know for sure.

Hero Link

I am 100 % sure, that there is a Prelude of Light! I still have the howling song in my head!

Eralk Fang

Evahn, that would be great- and would that be audio or video? Either would work wonderfully, I'm just curious. Come to think of it, Prelude of Light and Nocturne of Shadow would make more sense being placed in a game about the Twilight Realm then the Requiem of Forest, unless it was that howling stone before the Sacred Grove... oh boy. Twilight Princess leaves you with so many questions...

DW

I swear I heard the Song of Time too....
