Mr. bubbles

I love IQ tests like Ticle your brain website. But I think it is a whole bunch of horse poop. I get lik 120 or something like that on IQ tests. I was born 4 days late.
I Like Pie.

Well, Dr. Rabies can attest to this, but I'm considered something of a political genius at our school.  I've even taken on the name of El Presidente in the technology section of our school.

I can see how coming out early might affect development, but staying in late doesn't sound like it does much.

While in the womb the embryo/unborn child will slowly develope at a slowly increasing rate. The long he or she stays in the womb, the more they will develop. So if one if in for about 11 months like Einstein they have a greater chance to be a genius than one of 10 months, as an example.

Gamefreak

But I wouldn't say that it's an absolute proven fact.  There's always exceptions to rules.

It's dangerous to be in the womb too long. 11 months? That's two months overdue.
Sources for this, anybody?

FINALLY! A voice of reason!

Einstein was unique, not necessarily because of a high IQ. But because of how he thought in unique ways. While his peers were at graduate school, he was working as a patent clerk and he'd use his experience with visualizing the inventions that he had to approve to gain experience and real-world insight into these things of relativity.

DW

Yeah, he was thought to be crazy...I think I read once that when he was in an asylum, he hooked up a guitar to an amplifier he had made himself and nearly blasted the windows out. So they lengthened his sentence. :P

Then again, like they say, great minds don't think alike, they think for themselves..

Fishalicious

Einstein's brain was smaller than average. It was more along the lines of him using it more.

We really only use a small percentage of our brains. Maybe if we used it more...

DW

Actually, really large brains are a sign of autism....

Another interesting fact: research shows that older siblings tend to be smarter than younger siblings academically.

For example, lets say a child is born, and six years later so is another by the same parents. Because the older child is at first the only child in the family, then that gives them alot of adult attention.

The second one, however, will not have the same attention for those six years, and will be about 3 points lower than their older sibling is in any various school subject.

However, younger siblings also tend to be of higher intelligence in subjects not even on IQ Tests than their older siblings.

Anyhow, as I mentioned above, I'd really like some sources for where you guys are getting this information.
Whocares, while you may be valid in saying so, that sounds like some really inaccurate research. Because imagine all the other factors that impact this kind of thing! What if the adult attention was absent? Or what if the parents didn't have the experience and treated the first child less...expertly than the second? Or what if the second child not only got attention from the parents, but help from the first? Or what if the second child was lavished with attention moreso than the first? What about an outside influence, like a poor housing situation or family trouble? Ehhh...

Fishalicious

Yeah, my parents kind of treat my sister better. She's younger than me, but she gets way more privileges than me. /:

But... yeah. I don't have any outside sources, I just remember reading once that Einstein's brain was small. sorry.

I dont believe that how long you may stay in the womb matters. Being smart isnt in black and white. It's not like a child who's born a few days before their supposed to is going to be stupid or something. After all, there are many different kinds of intelligence. Life experiences and logic ability, these arent things that come from a week longer inside the womb.
A child might be behind academically, while another may be ahead...but that doesnt mean that the child thats ahead was born late. The slower child might be far more creative and open to all possibilities, while the faster child might just be learning off the books and nothing more. I believe that intelligence has to do with enviroment, and the influences in the childs life. Motivation is also a big part of how the child learns.
Or couse, like stated before, there are exceptions to every rule....Not that this is a rule. Just an idea.  :)

DW

The factors of anyone's personality are so many, it's nigh impossible to eliminate all but one and observe the effect of any one factor.
