NOt really that realistic a career choice, I think. You'd be surprised at how much skill the whole thing takes, not just for the group but for each individual.

With that in mind, I am seriously doubting if HNS will managa to make true his career plans.

JDog

I didn't really mean like making them, I ment more like writting them.

darkphantomime

The same thing still applies.

Zoratunic

Same here, I got a crapload of ideas for games, but probably none of them will ever be more than ideas. Just being realistic here.

Hey, it's JQ we're talking about here, half the things he says are depressing and/or self esteem crushing. Besides, I heard that course Devry gives only gives you a certificate, not a degree or anything like that (Doubt that there is a degree avaible for game designing). If you're that determined, get some friends and set up a company in your garage. Worked for Steve Jobs, right (or was it Bill Gates?)

Eh, it never hurts to aim high.  At least it gets you somewhere.

You say that as if such a feat is impossible. ::)

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

Don't know, but can't hurt to try, right?

It is a bit unrealistic to suppose you want to be a game designer. The thing is, though, when you're willing to work for it, you have a better chance for it.

Like, no offense JDog, but if your backup is game design, I seriously doubt you could pull that one off.

Rinku

I have no idea what college or anything I'm going to, but I know I want to compose music for video game companies or become a manga-ka. I'll most likely end up doing something more realistic though.

Hi no Seijin

Hey, working on video games is realistic; don't let anyone tell you otherwise.  It just wouldn't hurt to have a back-up plan, that's all.

I suppose with all this talk about back-up plans, which was started by me for the most part, I should say what my back-up plan is.  But, um, I haven't thought of one yet. ;)

My passion in life is video games and writing, and I am a skilled writer (or so I am told by others), but they aren't always a steady paying job.  There isn't really anything else I like enough to pursue as a career opportunity, nor is there anything else I feel really good at to go for either.  While working at a Tropical Smoothie Cafe or GameStop does sound appealing to me, I'm not quite sure I would want to spend the rest of my life working at one.

Short Term:

-Get a waitressing Job in the Tearooms.
-Pass My GCSE's and A-levels (preferably above C ^^)
-Take a gap year to travel the world either before or after university. (Countries of choice: Russia, Thailand, Japan, China, Canada, New Zealand, India, Kuwait -to see family-

Longer Term:

-Get into a good University
-Eventually pay off gargantuan student loan.

As for jobs, maybe something in Anthropology, hopefully something involving travel. Or a French translator.

Twilight Wolf

Sorry to revive an aging (read: dead) topic, but I can cross this:

  • Maybe get a Sega Saturn

...Off of my list of goals! I bought a Sega Saturn last Tuesday from eBay, which included all of the necessary TV and power cables and two controllers, and it arrived today! The game I ordered still hasn't gotten here, though, but I love messing around with the CD player. The system is in perfect condition, too! No scratches or scuffs anywhere!

...And that's it. Feel free to go about your normal business.
What, you expect me to say something witty?

alical

Oh yeah I have a new plan for the future.

Get Underfloor heating.

We're too poor now ;-; but when I am older I'll have my very own!
