The Gohma had not expected to find two men to prey on, and is delighted by the sight of a second potential meal. Victor's scream is enough to disturb even this hideous monster, and so it moves for the closer man, Alpha. Just as it prepares to attack, Victor's arrow comes flying through the room at her. The agile arachnid is quick enough to close her sensitive eye, and the shaft splinters upon contact with the thick, stony hide. Apparently, it will take a portion of cunning to annihilate the Gohma's well-known weak spot.

Alpha's staff comes within an inch of the Queen's body, narrowly missing (6+2[Roll+Agi*]) and failing to cause any damage. Had his agility not been hindered, the Sheikah would have dealt damage as planned. Instead, his valiant strike goes unbeknownst to the spider, which has turned its attention on Victor, whose arrow had distracted it.

Lunging at the unfortunate bard, the Gohma lashes out with its powerful fangs (1+16[Roll+Agi]), tearing a sizable piece of flesh from the Hylian's unprotected face, while also dealing 15 points of damage. Victor does not even have a slight chance to evade the attack. The extra four limbs give the Gohma an incredible advantage in agility.

Alpha mentally chastizes himself for his miss, even if he can blame the spider's goo for his lack of speed. Master Zaris would have been furious. 'Heck, Master can run fast enough that the air friction would get rid of this goop.'

Seeing that Victor's attack was no more successful against the Oblivion Ghoma, Alpha can think of no better plan than to just strike her body again. In time, when the ooze finally dissolves away, he'll think up some better plan. For now, though, he simply rushes forward again, intent on hitting the beast's body with his staff this time.

OOC: You took forever, Alpha. It's a good thing Blank is away. Oh, and thank him?! It's not like it lasted too long, anyways. Maybe if the baddies would attack you every once and a while, Alpha, I'd have a reason to thank Blank.

IC: Another scream pierced the air as the Gohma's fangs dug into Victor's skin, followed by the Bard reaching up and shielding the wound with his hand. Gritting his teeth, he realized that he would have no choice but to attack the beast with his dagger; at least, until he had a chance to hit its eye. Unsheathing the dagger and readying it, Victor gulped and moved towards the spider's nearest leg, slashing at it in hopes of diminishing the creature's agility and thereby making the fight somewhat fairer...

OOC: Did I procrastinate a little too much? Nah...

OOC: Augh, this topic has dragged on for so long Onwards, Gohma-slayers!
IC:

The Gohma squealed in pain as Alpha's flailing staff collided with its hairy body (11+2[Roll+Agi]), administering ten points of damage and reducing the Body's overall health to forty. A disgusting gurgling could be heard from the spider's enormous gut as the damage was dealt. As his staff went crashing into the Oblivion Gohma's torso, the sticky web loosened itself and fell to the floor in a dried out heap, returning the Sheikah's agility to its original power.

Victor's dagger easily plunged into the arachnid's thick, fuzzy leg (17+6[Roll+Agi]), squirting a grotesque black liquid into the bard's face. Obviously the spider's blood. It dripped off of his face, leaving no mess, but the grim taste of the horrible liquid remained. Ten points of damage were dealt, and the leg kicked out violently as it was harmed. Ten points remained.

Now the Gohma had become enraged. It lashed out with its fangs yet again, taking advantage of its more powerful attack. Its intended target was Alpha, and the attack struck home (6+16[Roll+Agi]), causing a loss of 15 points from Alpha's high health total. Not a sizable dent, but a large toll nonetheless.

OOC: KP, I bet you're just dieing to put my characters through torture like this someday. Spider blood in the mouth? I'd go crazy!

Victor might be mad about getting a face full of spider blood, but Alpha is quite pleased to once again be able to maneuver normally. He quickly does a backflip to try to escape the Ghoma's fangs, but with eight legs still functioning the Oblivion Ghoma is still at the height of its game. Still, a little pain does not dampen his mood.

A grin forms on the Sheikah's face as he brings his hands in front of him for his own counter-attack. Focusing entirely on the energy that swirls around his body, he takes his training as a mage as pushes into his mystical powers for the strength he needs. The telltale orb of an Elemental Explosion forms in his hands, constantly shifting among the various elements while he waits to unleash it.

'Fire, please be fire!' he thinks. He had noticed that the goo he'd been covered in seemed highly flammable, so he hadn't chanced it then, but now that he was free, he was ready to strike out with the element most associated with power. Gripping the ball in both hands, he brings it back and slings the energy orb at the Ghoma, hoping that it will not only damage the main target - the body again - but also every other part of the Cursed creature.

OOC: I'm doing the resistances a bit lazier today (gotta go to work soon ), so instead of going through eight legs, I'll act as though they're one single entity. No objections? Good!

Although Alpha had practically preyed for his Elemental Explosion to contain the magical element of fire, he received the exact opposite. An impressive Water-based Explosion gushed forward from where the young Mage stood, dousing the Gohma's entire build; from head to claw, the hideous creature was drenched in the powerful typhoon of liquid. Each leg was unable to escape the wet aura (19+0[Roll+Spi]), and each of them were dealt 15 points of damage each (9+3+3[Lvl.+Base+Int]). The limb which Victor had attacked was now gone, and the remainder of these legs were reduced to five points of health each.

The head suffered the same fate, unable to avoid Alpha's spell at all (9+0[Roll+Spi]), and was also damaged. And of course, following suit to its SPI-lacking counterparts, the body received damage just as the legs and head had (15+0[Roll+Spi]). Alpha's Elemental Explosion had drastically pulled the battle in favour of himself and Victor. The eye of the Gohma, however, had not been damaged.

IC: As the spider's blood squirted onto his face and mouth, Victor let out another screetch. He began furiously wiping his face until all the goop was off, then proceeded to try and spit the leftover taste out of his mouth. After doing this for most of Alpha's turn, he looked up at the ceiling and mumbled...

"Why me?"

...as if addressing some otherworldly being that was controlling the fight. He then watched as Alpha's watery explosion destroyed the leg that he had previously attacked, and decided that he might as well start attacking the body, since Alpha could probably take care of the rest of the legs with another explosion. So, charging towards the Gohma, the Bard stuck out his dagger in the direction of the monster's body and shielding his face with his free arm just in case some more blood was squirted in his direction...

OOC: You know Victor, I could probably arrange for some horrible tragedy to befall Blank in FoG...for a small fee, of course...

Then again, I didn't notice that I'd grown to L9 until he mentioned it, so...

We'll cross that road when we come to it.

IC:
Alpha grins as he succeeds in substantially weakening the Ghoma. It seems the weakness of this beast is magical attacks, and unfortunately for it - but fortunately for him - he had enough magic for another blast.

The Sheikah immediately begins his focusing again, not even bothering to concentrate on a specific element. Last time he had gotten the polar opposite of what he'd wanted, so it obviously didn't work very well. Instead his thoughts center on just getting out another powerful blow.

The sphere forms in his hands, shifting in colors as it always does: red for fire, green for nature, yellow for light, and so on. Before he throws it, however, he realizes that Victor is already charging in, and decides to wait until the Bard's attack is finished so that he isn't hit by friendly fire.

Once Victor has attacked and moved out of the way, he slings the orb around and hurls it at the fiendish monster.

Victor's charge pierced the Gohma's body defense of 10 (5+6[Roll+Agi]) and sank into the horrible torso with a sickening squish. No blood was emitted from the open wound, but thousands of minuscule parasites could be observed from Victor's proximity. A veritable city of insects inside the giant spider. While the Gohma did not bleed, a foul gas seeped from the dead parasites, a stench that would cause the average man to gag and shield their face. The body was deducted another ten points.

When Victor was out of range of Alpha's second Explosion, the violent Wind-based spell whipped towards the arachnid at a frightening pace. The disastrous hurricane had few purposes; in its passing it succeeded in tearing the seven remaining legs from the Gohma's body (1+0[Roll+Spi]). The beast's Agility rating had dropped from sixteen to absolute zero in a matter of minutes.

The head and body were just as misfortunate. The head could not evade the magic in the slightest (3+0[Roll+Spi]), and was dealt a monstrous fifteen points yet again. The body was caught in the maelstrom as well (6+0[Roll+Spi]) and suffered the same shock. The eye, again, remained undamaged.

Now more furious than ever before, the Oblivion Gohma smashed its powerful fangs towards Alpha, demonstrating lingering hate for the Sheikah that had caused it so much pain. Alpha was easily able to escape the attack (11+0[Roll+Agi]), due to the spider's reclined agility. It was a laughable attempt on the Gohma's part.

As the foul stench of deceased parasites entered his nostrils, Victor did indeed gag and turned away from the spider, eyes watering. He staggered forward until he was far enough from the Gohma to take a deep breath of fresh... err, well... relatively fresh air. In his position he was far enough from the monster for Alpha to have a clear shot, and he smiles as the blast knocks the spider's agility down to zero. Happy that the fight would be much less one-sided, the Bard readied his dagger once more and moved towards the body yet again, realizing that he could probably finish it off with one more stab...

The Gohma saw Victor advancing, and attempted to scurry away. The tides had turned in favour of the prey, and the one whom the spider had tormented the most was now advancing on the stunned beast, reversing the sense of fear. It was then that the arachnid made a weak groan sound - or whatever a spider's cry of agony might sound like. It had no legs! Now faced with the impossibility of movement, the creature could do nothing but accept Victor's attack (8+6[Roll+Agi]), which sliced prominently through the furry hide, eliminating that section of the Gohma. The head seemed to lurch violently as it fell forward under the weight of the body. It was at this point that the Eye reopened, its barricade crippled by the loss of its body.

The destruction of its primary defense did little to quench the Oblivion Gohma's anger, and it unleashed this hatred in the form of an attack on the bard that had exacted the previous attack. Although its legs were decimated and its agility had reached zero, the vicious spider's fangs were still able to pierce Victor's defense (19+0[Roll+Agi]) and administer the devastating 15 points of damage to its enemy.

'Dang it!' Alpha thinks to himself. 'How can it still fight if it can't move!?!' (OOC: Really Blank, how does that work? ) Though slightly annoyed at his lack of magical energy - he can't cast anything else! - he still has his trusty staff, and the majority of his health, too. Perhaps if he can get it to attack him rather than Victor...

Regardless of the fact that the eye has at last opened, the Sheikah goes straight for the Oblivion Ghoma's head. It's weaker, and it can still attack somehow. Whipping the staff around his back, he unleashes a powerful blow in the direction of the head.

It's a sickening sound, the awkward squish! accompanied by the caving in of an insects cranium. As Alpha's staff plunged through the air at the Gohma's head, it screeched intensely, knowing that it would be impossible to avoid this attack in its current position - this situation would definitely keep people from taking their legs for granted. The staff cracked into the Gohma's tenderized skull (19+4[Roll+Agi]), and there was a brief moment in which the blood flow seemed endless. A massive dent in the arachnid's fractured head remained in the aftermath of the attack; a wound that seemed to tell the Gohma it had chosen the wrong duo to underestimate.

Knowing that none of Victor's attacks can do enough damage to finish the head off once and for all - and that his can - Alpha yells for the bard to "Go straight for the eye!" Then, whipping the staff back around his body he turns his last attack into a one-two combo, bringing the rod back to crush the rest of the life the Oblivion Ghoma's head contains.

OOC: Unexpected prompt reply! Woo!

The head stood no chance against Alpha's staff, again. It made an awkward attempt to deflect the attack with its fangs, but most of its abnormal brain cells had been severely damaged in the previous attack, and it did not even have the strength left to move its jaw. A defeated screech - one of a very low, accepting tone - escaped it, as Alpha's attack (7+4[Roll+Agi]) swept through the air and made full contact. The head was obliterated instantly, adding to the Gohma's sensational losses. There remained only one available target: they Eye. At full health, the optical segment of the monster was still fully functioning. As a defense mechanism, it began to store energy from its surroundings, fuelling an attack that could be unleashed after completion of the charging process.
