Rose strolled through the woods, listening to the various birds and squirrels chirping. It was a peaceful setting, and one she wouldn't mind setting up camp in. Which would be a good idea soon; looking up past the few holes in the canopy of the forest, it looked like it was late in the day.

And then she noticed the sudden silence. She frowned. Surely her presence hadn't caused it. She had been hiking through North Forest a good half of the day, and she was in and out of the forest so much that the animals seemed to be used to her. As she thought this, should heard a loud squawk. A confused look joined her frown; cuccos didn't live in the North Forest.

The ranger ran towards the source of the squawk, wondering if it was a stray cucco from Ruto again. Bloody man needs to learn how to keep track of his animals, she thought.

Any other thoughts that Rose might have had were pushed out of her mind as she saw why the cucco had squawked. Two wolves were coming down upon it, a hungry look in their eyes. But their attention was snatched away when they heard the snap of a twig being stepped on. A twig that Rose didn't know was there. They began to slink towards her, perhaps angry that the two-legger had interrupted their hunt. Perhaps they thought she would make a better meal.

Out of instinct, Rose drew her sword and knife. "Nice wolves," she whispered, not expecting them to listen to her, let alone understand her.

The two Wolfos obviously do not understand anything Rose says, instead allowing only their hunger to speak to them, and all it tells them is that there's a very delicious looking slab of meat standing in front of them. They slowly make their way around the Ranger, never allowing their eyes to leave her form as they split up, one circling one way and the other in the opposite direction until Rose is directly between them.

The Cucco, in the meantime, flaps its wings as quickly as it can, flying straight up into one of the many tall trees of North Forest. For some reason, though, it chooses not to flee but rather to stay and watch, its tiny Cucco mind hoping that the distraction that had allow it to escape the dinner table (for now) isn't too badly hurt by those mean creatures.

With a snarl, the first Wolfos dashes forward, iron-like claws ripping into the ground as they drag along behind it. The beast leaps skyward all of a sudden, coming down with a punishing claw attack that rips directly through her sleeve and takes a chunk of skin from her arm (18+7[Roll+AGI]). A mighty 12 DMG is taken from the Ranger by the attack. The second Wolfos chooses this moment when she is weakest to strike from behind, but this one is not nearly as lucky as its partner in gluttony. The claw misses its target (11+7[Roll+AGI]), leaving that one wide open for any counter that Rose might choose to throw its way.

Rose watched wearily as the two wolfoses surrounded her. Great, she thought sourly. Just great. Now it's going to be hard for me to... She gasped in pain as one of the wolfoses ripped into her arm. Her second reaction is to jump out of the way, causing the other wolfos to miss her. Eying the best opportunity to at least damage one of them, she brings both sword and knife open the second wolflos [Dual Wield L1]. Hopefully, the wolfoses will see that a small injury isn't going to be stopping her anytime soon. However, if they continue their attack, Rose does have some weapons up her sleeve. Figuratively speaking, of course.

OOC: Well, I was thinking actual wolves, not wolfoses, Alpha. I had always figured the wolfos was just a variant of wolves in Hyrule, but I guess we'll go with wolfoses.

OOC: Well, I guess you should've mentioned that before I posted, HNS.

IC:
The second Wolfos is sent flying backwards as Rose's twin blades rip into the beast's skin (12+5[Roll+AGI]), dealing 12 DMG, the exact amount that had been given to the Ranger in its companion's strike. Digging its claws into the ground, the beast slows its travel and charges back at the Ranger, rage now pushing it even harder than before. Its claw shoots out, and rips directly through . . . air (12+7[Roll+AGI]). The attack is yet another clean miss.

While the cucco watches from above in pleasant awe at Rose's skill, the first Wolfos leaps forward into the fray. It too lashes out with its claws, only to discover that second time's definitely not the charm. Maybe it had only had beginner's luck when taking the first attack, cause right now it too joins its fellow in missing its target completely (9+7[Roll+AGI]).

OOC: Well, I called them wolves in my first post, but I guess you figured I used wolf and wolfos interchangeably, huh?

IC:
Rose leaps back from both of the wolfoses, smiling as they both missed. They definitely didn't look like giving up any time soon. Well, she didn't plan on quitting either. However, it didn't look like she needed to change to a different form yet, so she continued her assault [Dual Wield L1] on the wolfos she had already damaged, hoping to drive it away only, but if it turned out she had to kill it to protect herself, then she will, though reluctantly. She could never forgot that pack of wolves that had helped her in her early days of the Tarm Army.

OOC: Yeah, that's what I figured, especially when we decided over AIM to use your Wolfos form as a basis for their stats.

I still blame you.

IC:
The two snarling beasts turn as one towards Rose as she leaps back from both of their attacks, noting her smug grin of superiority, which only leads to them becoming more enraged with her. Together they charge forward, expecting their prey to turn around and dodge away from their attacks . . . which leads to their great surprise when she instead charges forward with both blades ready to go. As a result of their forward momentum, Rose's target is once again slashed through with her Dual Wielded daggers (12+5[Roll+AGI]), loosing another 12 HP in the process of being thrown to the ground once again.

Teaming up once more, the Wolfos refuse to back down, instead charging forward from both sides with sharp pointy claws ready to go. The first once again slices into the Human (15+7[Roll+AGI]), taking away another chunk of 12 HP, while the second fails for the third time in a row to make a hit (5+7[Roll+AGI]).

Any smile that Rose had is now gone as the wolfos at full health slices through her arm again. She grunted in pain, but she ignored the first wolfos to finish off the second, weaker beast [Dual Wield L1]. There was no point in retaliatory strikes yet. Even though the second one had continued to miss the human, it could still hit her eventually, and she didn't need two wolfoses ripping into her flesh.

OOC: Sure, blame the human, Sheikah. XD

OOC: Well, if you insist . . .

IC:
The weakened Wolfos hesitates as the woman who has struck it twice now comes towards it one more time, obviously intent on finishing it off. And finish it Rose does, her twin blades dashing directly through its chest and knocking it to the ground (14+5[Roll+AGI]). And it does not get back up this time.

The first Wolfos pauses, becoming much more cautious as the scent of its own kind's blood reaches its nostrils. Dashing around Rose for several long seconds, rather than simply charging straight in with reckless abandon, the lone remaining Wolfos suddenly springs forward with its claws, bringing them down in a flash. A flash that Rose manages to avoid, though the beast can't understand how (12+7[Roll+AGI]).

Rose watched with a slight air of remorse as she killed the second wolfos. Wolfoses were such beautiful creatures in her eyes, and it was unfortunate that she had to kill one. However, she also had a desire to live, and that desire was stronger than her desire to see a wolfos healthy. This desire helped explained why the wolfos had missed when Rose ducked instinctively, rolling backwards. Once back on her feet, she eyed the wolfos she had been neglecting to attack. Well, I guess the death of its companion isn't going to stop it, she thought. Time to get rid of this one, then. The human ranger sighed heavily and rushed forward, swiping her sword horizontally and bringing her knife from above [Dual Wield L1].

Above the battle between human and beasts, the cucco continued to watch. Every time his savior had taken some damage, it had let out a small squawk of distress, but with every miss of the wolfoses, it had let out a joyous caw. And with the death of the second wolfos, it decided that if the two-legged creature needed help, it would quickly fly down and try to blind the remaining beast that had tried to eat it.

The Wolfos grimaces angrily as its claws rip through nothing but air, flashing before him in a glimmer of reflected light rather than tearing into a vat of crimson liquid and tasty food. But that isn't the only disappointment it feels as Rose's twin blades finally target it instead of its partner, and with similar efficiency they find and tear into the first Wolfos like it wishes its claws would do (13+5[Roll+AGI]).

Stumbling backwards for a few seconds, the beast lunges forward one more time, but meets similar results as the previous time. Seems like beginner's luck had been on its side, and third time had been the charm, but now it was losing the ability to strike correctly against the skilled warrior (5+7[Roll+AGI]).

Stubborn little thing, Rose thought. Well, that's what Jill used to say about me, and I'm not about to prove her wrong. She dodged the wolfos again, still ignoring the pain in her arm. That could be taken care of later, but right now, she had to get rid of this wolfos. And since the death of it's hunting partner and a wound didn't stop it, she decided that another strike would [Dual Wield L1].

The Wolfos rears backwards, seeing the sword coming and preparing to dodge out of the way. However, the second blade is actually the one that strikes first, tearing through its chest before the first, the one it had been trying to avoid, catches it full in the face (7+5[Roll+AGI]). It tumbles to the ground, exhausted and now in much greater pain than before . . . and much more enraged as it realizes its left eye is useless all of a sudden. It lashes out in a blind rage, missing wildly as its anger leads it into an endless fury (8+7[Roll+AGI]).

If birds could smirk, the cucco above would've done so. The human that had saved him had been at an advantage the just about the entire battle. A fact that Rose had also recognized, but had put it into the back of her head. It can't take another hit, Rose thought. This ends now. Pushing aside the feeling that she had just jnyxed herself, she leaped forward, bringing her weapons to bear upon the injured wolfos [Dual Wield L1].

Jynx herself Rose does, because the Wolfos somehow manages to sense the attack coming. Rather than trying a quick dodge to the side to avoid the Ranger's blades, the creature leaps backwards and lands several yards away (3+5[Roll+AGI]). It then charges forward, hoping that its target is still off-balance - which it seems she is, for the wolf's claws finally find their mark again (17+7[Roll+AGI]) and take out another 12 HP.

It seemed that Rose's wounds were starting to effect her. Having her leg torn into doesn't help her any. Focus, girl, she thought. If Lieutenant Kantoro was here, he'd have my hide. And with the thought of a strict commanding officer on her mind, she once again lunged forward, sweeping her blades horizontally to bring down the wolfos before her [Dual Wield L1].
