Eh, he's both. Corrupted AND insane. Lots of villains are like that.
An people in the goverment too.

"Of course I'm mad with power, if you're mad any other way, nobody listens to you!"

Zant looked kinda whiny emo in that scene of when he met Ganondorf.

Thats a derect quote from Simpsons the Movie by the way.
That movie is hilarous.

Zant remined me of a diseased Ooccoo at first.   :o

I like how when you first see a little part of Zant (under his mask/helmet), his mouth is all sticky. It would make a good cover for a metal band.  :)

Keaton

Zant does have a metal band cover.  It's called Crying for Twilight.  It's Tumbling Rock's top pick of the milennium.

Anyone ever noticed that the great deku tree looks the album cover for "Withered"?

I think Zant is a beautifully, cleverly constructed character. People may find him 'funny' due to his erratic behaviour however, I think Nintendo have made it much deeper and darker rather than use him for comical reasons. He is mad in the head.

When I finished Majora's Mask (Having completed Twilight Princess first), Majora's Incarnation reminded me of Zant. In both cases it is maddness but in a much darker, more sinister way than most people give credit for. Well done to Nintendo for making such a brilliant character.

I feel I must agree with you there. Personally, I love how Zant was introduced toward the beginning of the game, and I refuse to let his intactical behavior lessen that. It only feels right that I go with that he was becoming more and more insane toward the end, which would make a little sense when you consider Link's doings of getting the Fused Shadows, reassembling the Mirror of Twilight, and getting rid of the twilight that plagued Hyrule. I think just about any self-respecting villain would be at least slightly miffed about having someone mitigate everything he or she had done up to that point.

I do wonder what happened to his tough and burly voice from when he stabbed that sword into Stallord's head, but ah well.

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

Shadow Ganon

I can't remember if Zant is brainwashed by Ganondorf or if he does it out of free will, but maybe he has taken badly to Ganondorf's influence, or maybe the sheer power of the Fused Shadows has 'backfired' or maybe he is frustrated. When portrayed in the final battle with him, he seems almost child-like. It's very much children's 'you can't catch me' sort of thing.

ZeldaFreak

I think that Zant's fighting style is kind of cartoony. Its kind of cool that he's all dark and evil and funny and crazy and mentaly handycapped all at once. He's probably one of the best bosses in the series. ;D

Shadow Ganon

Best character full stop I'd say. Oh wait, Ganondorf is.

Ganondorf saw Zant's distress (When he lost the royal throne to Midna) as his golden oppurtunity to seduce him, and make him believe he could get anything he wanted. In other words, he was just using Zant as a mere puppit, while Zant thought otherwise.
