so on this other site i was taking to someone about the anime, evangelion, i wanted to know what it was about but she said it would sound weird.. has anyone watched it? without big spoilers whats it like?

darkphantomime

It's not that weird. I've seen MUCH weirder... But I loved Evangelion all the more. Basically there are a lot of inner conflicts with the main characters, their fears, hopes, anxieties, connections...

It also has a fair bit of religious imagery and philosophy, but not to the point that it's preachy, but rather gives insight to the  world as a whole. The way people bond with others...

Major themes include isolation, coping with emotion/problems, confusion, strong emotion... There are a LOT of truly screwed up people in there, but it doesn't really become readily apparent until later on.

It is a legend among animes, truly great in quality and INTENSE in everything... Especially with all this introversion.

MatthewThief

Grog asks do they fight in it?

darkphantomime

They fight with Giant Robots and "Angels", weird mecha that come from outerspace that look really weird, and have giant eyes...

MatthewThief

hmm sounds interesting.. i never watched a giant robot fighting anime before.

Commodore Axilon

Seriously? That's like half the genre right there. ;D

i know  ;)

I've watched a few episodes of it, but I can't find a consistent source to watch it.  I'll probably just go buy DVD's or something.  Because the few episodes I saw were awesome.

darkphantomime

The whole set costs like fifty bucks or so. That's about six DVD's. You can probably find it at Best Buy (That's where I got it)

Also, it's only 26 episodes. Shorter anime tend to be more intense.

true, but by the time i would really like the characters it would probally be over

darkphantomime

I don't think you've ever seen a short anime... By the first couple episodes, you'll love them.

Evilbob

oh, I should get that.

Probably when I next go on a furmeet (That involved going shopping, eating, drinking, partying, and watching drunk gays play singstar)

(yes, the best was the drunk gays. Playing singstar.)

Anyway, we go to a lot of shops like forbidden planet (you should know what that is), so I can find lots of anime oddities.

Well, I can't say I really know what this is... as for I am not a huge fan of anime.

[Then Please PLEASE don't post. It makes Baby Jesus Cry]

but not enough time to enjoy them

darkphantomime

Oh, but you WILL. Because it's right in-depth from the get-go, you fall in love with them almost instantaneously, enjoying every single moment. You've only seen long animes like Dragon Ball, Naruto, and p robably Bleach. So you have very little experience in how much content there can be in only 26 episodes. It's a lot, and I DO MEAN A LOT.
