BongoBongo-Phantom Shadow Sheikah?

Bongo Bongo is the seventh boss in Oot, some say the hardest.  He is found in the shadow temple, which is filled with undead and instruments of torture. It is possible that Bongo Bongo was once a sheikah, then executed for some crime, having his hands and his head cut off, replaced by his eye. By torture he was mutated into a great demon.

Please post your thoughts...

Hi no Seijin

Huh.  I never really thought about the origin of Bongo Bongo before; it would certainly make for an interesting fanfic to explore his story.

As for Bongo Bongo once being Sheikah, I can certainly see it as a possibility.  However, having his head cut off would sort of kill him, so it would be more like he became a demon after his death.  (Although, I guess that could be considered a mutation.)

....what?

I guess the "Shiekah" thing is plausible, but please, part of a theory is having evidence to back up said theory.

Still, what?

Hi no Seijin

Well, what evidence can you find for Bongo Bongo once being a Sheikah?  All you have to go on is the one cutscene as you enter Kakariko Village after getting the Water Medallion and the boss fight in the Shadow Temple, and both of them suggest some Sheikah heritage.  He also never said "theory" anywhere in the title of the topic or his post; you're the only one mentioning theory.  It's more speculation than theory here.

HnS, what is the name of the section he posted this in?

Is there perhaps a place where we could refer to the whole model of Bongo Bongo, and examine any markings on his person?

DW

Doesn't it say he's a guardian of some kind, from the Gods? Or was that his Windwaker ripoff...?

Hi no Seijin

If I remember correctly, Bongo Bongo was described as an ancient evil sealed in the well long ago.

Shika, I think you're thinking of Gohdan, who was in the Tower of the Gods to test the Hero's worth.

I just found this up at Zeldapedia:

QuoteThe boss in the Shadow Temple is theorized to be (or have been) a Sheikah. This is because Adult Link can talk to Shikashi near the House of Skulltula, this elderly man states:

"A long time ago... There was a man in this very village who had an eye they said could see the truth! Now usually, you have to train your mind's eye most strenuously to actually see the truth... But this fella, no, they say he had a different way of doing things... His house stood where the well is now..."

The shapeshifter monster could probably be this person due to the fact that Bongo Bongo have one eye and was living in the well. His house could have been sent to the bottom of the well, along with certain artifacts (the Lens of Truth, a Sheikah's item). His description says Phantom Shadow Beast, as "phantom" as a "dead person" and "shadow" as "Shadow folk", another name for the Sheikah.

Also Bongo Bongo was possibly a Dark Interloper in the Hyrulean Civil War and was executed, being sent (along with his house) to the bottom of the Kakariko Well. To add to this theory, The Bottom of the Well has various torchering devices, which means this is possibly the place that Bongo Bong may have been executed in. Another theory proposed is that he was a Twili, but he wasn't imprisoned in the Twilight Realm. Instead he was sealed away in the Bottom of the Well by Impa. It is also possible that before they knew about the Twilight Mirror they bound certain interlopers in distinct places.
Oh, and just realized something. Shadow Kargaroks from TP have a similar ... ummm...head (or whatever you want to call it).

KingKomali

Hm, having no head can be problomatic to the living :-\

and I have always found Shadow Kargarok's heads to look like trumpet horns, hence the odd blurting cry.

This does add a bit of credibility to the Twili/Dark Interloper theory, but not necessarily the theory stated in this thread.

I was recently goofing off in Kakariko Village and i noticed when you speak to the people they often say how greed can affect people( turning a person into Bongo Bongo). If Bongo Bongo originally was this person, it would fit since the skulls with the light up eyes say that the shadow temple held the history of greed and hatred in hyrule. And as for dying/mutating, Bongo Bongo is refered to as the phantom shadow beast, phantom being the remains of something or ghost, and shadow meaning grim and dark. Maybe it's not the same body Bongo Bongo had as a shiekah, but it's spirt or immortal being. Also it can not be a hylian, for his eye are red like a shiekahs.

Shadow Ganon

who's even saying that its definately an 'eye'on Bongo Bongo. I don't know exactly where I'm coming from on this one myself, but of he was beheaded then what we percieve to be his 'eye' could infact be a bloody stump that seems to glow for some reason. It looks like the stumps of his arms, only wider and glowing. Also, whatever it is around the eye looks like it could be frayed skin or something. I don't believe this myself, I just see it as an eye, but I thought that the idea could be somewhat interesting. A headless drummer, sounds silly to me...

KingKomali

He probaly died from decapition, so it could be a stump, plus most sheikahs have two eyes ;). But as I said before, Bongo Bongo's beast form wasn't his original body. In the boss fight, bongo bongo looks at link and positions itself to ram into him. The center of the stump follows link's movements.

Shadow Ganon

ahhh, long time since I did that one. The only boss on Ocarina of Time that I died on :(. But I make it to easy for myself and have all my bottles with fairies. Ahhhh well, its good to get the game over sometimes so you're more free on where you want to go whenever you're on it. For example, if you want to go back to childhood for a spot of fishing or the bombchu bowling alley, then the forest temple is a pain in the behind.
