Okay, so this morning, I was pwning my brother in brawl, and I was using a GC controller. I then moved my chair backward, accidentally pulling the Wii. It then took a 2 foot drop to a hardwood floor. It was still on, but it said "an error has occurred, check the manual. I turned it off, then back on, got to the menu, checked the virtual console games, then thought it was fine. When I put smash bros back in, it said it couldn't read it. I then tried multiple other games. Nope. I left it with my dad, gave him the manual, and told him to call Nintendo.

i broke mah baby... :(

Hi no Seijin

The lesson?  Always find a comfortable position for video game playing before you start playing when you are using a controller with a cord.

Ouch, man, that seriously sucks.

That's why I use my trusty WaveBird. You'd do well to get one, as well.
What, you expect me to say something witty?

cacturnerules

Well, I'd have to get 3. I will still have 3 regular GC controllers, If I get them. And I just ordered a new 4 pack of N64 controllers, too. D:

MagmarFire

Man, that DOES suck! >_<

It helps to keep it close to the ground. Keeps net falling force to a minimum, yes.

I feel like Captain Obvious right now...

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

cacturnerules

I always do keep it on the ground. But the one time I decide to bring it to my dad's with me, it falls and breaks.

The Glamour Nazi

That sucks. Happened to me and mine only messes up when I play brawl.

Twilight Wolf

That just sounds like your Wii is having a hard time reading dual-layer discs. Nintendo will fix that for you. If I recall correctly, I think it was free, though you'd have to pay shipping.

The Glamour Nazi

For something that big? No way! It works half of the time.

Twilight Wolf

It'd only cost maybe $5-10 at the most to ship it. If you want a perfectly-functioning Wii, it'd probably be worth the cost.

Fishalicious

Just, please, please, please, please spend the extra money to get the Delivery Confirmation & Shipping Insurance from USPS. And ship FedEx if you can, but still get a sticker they can track + insurance for $270 so that if it gets lost, you can either track it down or get your money back if that is deemed fruitless.

And bubblewrap. Lots of bubblewrap.

ANYWAY. Post office warnings aside (I... work a lot with them, sending/shipping stuff and all that for one of a kind items), I'm pretty sure your best bet IS to ship it, Nintendo won't fix stuff if someone else tinkers with it.

cacturnerules

Well, my dad said it is $70 for them to fix it. We have to ship it, and I don't know how much that'll cost. But they take it, and fix it, then give it back. He said we'll split the money, so I'm not that upset anymore.

...except for the fact that my mom borrowed my remaining $50 dollars from christmas, and I owe my little brother $35 dollars for animal crossing that we split. So... oh well.

Twilight Wolf

$35 to repair it is certainly better than $250 to replace it. Plus you get to keep all your Virtual Console games and game saves! I'd say that's a pretty good deal.

Also, like I've mentioned, shipping will probably only cost about $10 if you ship it Priority Mail and get tracking. Insurance might bring the cost up a little more, but still, you're paying less than $50 to get the Wii back in working order, and as long as you're careful, it should last you a lifetime.

Hi no Seijin

At least until you take a chainsaw to it.

Why would you go and do a foolish thing like that? I dislike the Wii, but I'm not about to destroy ours with a chainsaw.
