I don't know if any of you are interested, but the new DSi comes out April 5th in the US and April 3rd in Europe.

If you're British, you're lucky because British video game store "GAME" is cutting the DSi price ($150, or €117) in half  if you trade in your DS lite, which you won't have any need for if your buying the new one.

Just thought I'd share.

:-[

Wait, do British people use Euros or pounds?!

Sorry if I'm wrong. ;)

MagmarFire

They use pounds.

And meh, I heard the DSi is essentially the same as the DS Lite, just with a camera and an MP3 thing, I think, and a lighter weight...and NO GBA SLOT.

Hi no Seijin

If you no longer have a GBA or GBA SP, then you should keep your DS Lite to play your GBA games.  Unless you plan on getting rid of all of them.

And I'm still not sure if I'd want to shell out the money for the DSi.  I have my GBA SP for Game Boy and Game Boy Color games, and I need to replace my DS with a DS Lite so I can play my GBA games without having to pound the L shoulder button.  I guess I'd have to wait to see how well the Internet portion and the MP3 portion of it works.

No Game boy slot?????
Well, I guess I'm not going that far into technology. Thats dangerous territory.

The lack of a GBA slot was a huge turn-off for me. Not only will I not be able to play my (admittedly small) collection of GBA games, but I also can't play any of the "Guitar Hero" games for the DS, even if they're terrible, or the DS rumble pack. I'm going to wait until after it comes out and trade up to a DS Lite.
What, you expect me to say something witty?

MagmarFire

Wait, why can't you play your DS GH games on the DSi? It's still a DS, isn't it? That's the impression I got.

Hi no Seijin

The DS Guitar Hero games requires the Guitar Grip to play it, and the Guitar Grip can only fit in the GBA slot, which was taken out of the DSi.  So unless future Guitar Hero games have a way to play without the Guitar Grip, you will need a DS or DS Lite to play the DS Guitar Hero games.

Ah, so that's where that thing's plugged in...

I don't really think it's worth it.
I have an original DS from back when they first came out and it's still doing fine, if anything happens to that then I'll get a DSi, if not then I can't be bothered.
I just hope I wont want any of the DSi specific games they bring out, that would annoy me so much!

Twilight Wolf

Yeah, I've still got an old DS Phat, and it's still fine, but the screen is scratched horribly (from my sister's constant playing of "Animal Crossing") and has a grindy feeling when you use it. Yuck.

I'd love to get a DS Lite one of these days because it's a bit more portable (fits into your pocket more easily) and has a fatter stylus, not to mention I can't stand how Nintendo dropped any and all support for the original one in favor of the DS Lite. Like, if I need a replacement stylus, do you think I can go to Wal-Mart and get some? Of course not! Screen protectors? No! Anything at all? Absolutely not! It's all DS Lite. Hopefully Nintendo won't do the same thing to the DS Lite when the DSi comes out.

Actually, the DSi will be able to play all DS games (except for the Guitar Hero games, and games such as Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and Final Fantasy Tactics A2 will not be able to retrieve data from GBA games).

QuoteIt has been reported that the DSi uses region locking for DSi-specific software, since it provides Internet services tailored individually for each region, but the DSi itself does not have region lock-outs, so Nintendo DS games from any region can be played.
Just thought I would throw that out there.  If you import games from Europe or Japan, then you don't have to worry about the DSi not being able to play them.

I, too, have an original DS, but like I said, I have to pound the L shoulder button to play it, so I'm definitely upgrading to the DS Lite when I can.  And you know what?  As soon as I can afford one, I think I will get the DSi and just use the DS for GBA games, Pokemon, and maybe the DS Guitar Hero games if they're any good.

You can get old DS stuff on amazon.com, or possibly Ebay.(I never use ebay) But it might be expensive depending on what deal you get. ;)

I think that if not enough people are buying the DSi then nintendo will drop their support for the DSLite to encourage people to buy the newer thing. and eventually they'll do it anyway, just cuz the Lite will get old. :( :'(

Also, how would they do more guitar hero on tour games if there's no GBA slot? This sucks... :(

I just got a idea! what if everyone goes to gamestop and gets screen protectors, replacement styluses, skins, straps, cords, etc. for the DSLite, like, alot, so then we have enough to last us a while. ;D

Anyway, I'm not going to ever buy a DSi (unless they make a Zelda for it that doesnt play on the lite). DSi sucks, MP3 player and camera arent worth sacrificing the GBA slot. :( :( :'(

If you clean the trigger buttons they work ALOT better. My friend cleaned my original DS, and the buttons work alot better. He said he learned how on youtube, if you want to learn it.  ;)

And the guitar hero games are awsome. ;D

If it involves taking apart my DS, then I don't trust myself to clean the trigger buttons.  Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Yeah I get that, what I meant was, that I've heard that there will be some games that can ONLY be played on the DSi because they use it's features. So I'm saying it would be annoying if there was a game that could only be played on a DSi that I really wanted, that would probably be the only thing that would make me really want one.
