Except that the country is called Hyrule, so Hyrulean would most likely be used to denote a citizen of Hyrule, whereas Hylian would identify the race.

In my book, either variant will do, but I'm choosing one that makes sense to me. :/

The Hylians are from Eastern Hyrule and the Hyruleans are from Western Hyrule, and anybody who doesn't think the same is a Nazi.

Magmar is right. Hylian is a race of people who are closer to the Goddesses than any other race. Hyrule is the kingdom ruled by Hylians. If you're Hyrulean(sp?), then you're a citizen of Hyrule. A Goron can be Hyrulean. Hope that clears things up :)
