Yes, what you do is, as human Link, with the lens of truth, climb up the "wall" near that river. When you get there, go in the cave and turn into goron Link and push the gravestone out of the way. Fill up the bottle with the hot spring water and go back to where the elder is. Go quick, or the "hot spring" water will turn into "normal" water. When you find the elder, pour the hot water on him. The ice around him will melt and he will teach you a song. Yay!

Actually, all Gorons are the same sex, we reproduce by eating a special rock and then a few days later we burp it out and we have a Goron baby.  :P
