Well, that's another reason. But I think I remember learning that when people actually saw footage of the war and how we were even killing innocent civilians, there was a big uproar (especially with the hippies) and in wars following that in the 80s, they only showed footage with a green filter and from the "gun's p.o.v." if you catch my drift so it made it look more like videogame than just a war.

Right. People were seeing (for the first time) how ugly war was, and they were outraged. By now, everyone knows how ugly war is, from all the movies that have hit theaters (or at least as much as one can know without actually being there for the fight). We know what war entails, and it certainly doesn't involve killing innocent people, and then lying to the folks back home about it. Not cool. Simply put: not cool.

Humanity is naturally flawed.

True, but what I'm saying is that I don't think survival is the thing really driving the competition.

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

It's trey survival isn't making us kill each other, it's resources. And that's it. But give out all those resources equally, we'll find another reason to kill each other. it's how humanity is.

MagmarFire

Well, you do need resources to survive. Like you said, we'd just find something else to kill each other over.

What a sick species we are, eh? Dang, it's amazing how the story of Tales of Symphonia applies here...

The Tales games are always so relative to real life.

It's creepy sometimes because the stories are always so... Well done.

Though, when it comes to a war like this and enemies are often in disguise much like the guerrillas in Vietnam, you have to be paranoid and think everyone is an enemy. Even still, there's no excuse for lying about what they did.

If they would have reported with the truth and a formal apology, I'd have had so much respect for them. Probably more than that of a successful mission. It takes extraordinary courage to admit when you've made a crucial mistake. If they had reported with something like "We were frightened, because out here anyone can be your enemy. We took extra measures to make sure there were no American casualties because that's what we're trained to do", I would have been far more understanding.

edit: But the thing is, they didn't sound like they felt threatened. That's just it.

Not to mention they were more than safe up in that helicopter.

Not if there really were RPGs involved (which, of course, there didn't seem to be). Those things can be launched about as far as a kilometer.
