Just a mention to anyone who plans on picking up Skyward Sword early, is anyone interested in helping write a walkthrough for the game?  I'll be getting it opening day, so I"ll do my best to contribute.  It'll be right before exams, but after the first week of December, I should be able to start tearing through the game.

Another idea for people with high quality video cameras.  Try and see if maybe you can video taping yourself playing the game through on the first run?  I'd like to try and see if Desert Colossus can get a decent guide up by the end of the year.

I wrote an in-depth walkthrough for Twilight Princess just for the colossus.

Jack threw it away.

I'll never write another walk-through as long as I live  :P

Why would he do something like that o:

No idea.
He thanked me, accepted it, and it never saw the face of the site.
It was entire walkthrough start to finish.

The reason I brought this topic up in the first place is because I'd like to see Desert Colossus rise back to the top of the Zelda fansite totem.

I think a good walkthrough for Skyward Sword would be a great way to bring in traffic.

So post here if you're getting Skyward Sword on, or close to its release date.  Also post any ideas you might have to help the site.

Also ZV, have you tried submitting the walkthrough to Kamikazi?

MagmarFire

What if we did a video walkthrough instead? Well, it would be more like a Let's Play, but they serve as awesome walkthroughs, to boot. If people want classic walkthroughs, aren't people just going to check GameFAQs for that?

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

Gamefreak

A video walkthrough would be good, though I lack the camera to record myself playing.

Do you want me to tell you what I think?
I think clawing our way to the top with a walk-through is a terrible idea.
There are people out there with these things called "obsessions".
They have no job, no schooling, no girlfriend, and they live in their mothers' basements.
They'll write a 100% walk-through faster than any of us could hope to, trust me.
With bigger and better sites out there, it's an almost hopeless endeavor to outrace them, not to mention that a lot of people will go straight to the sites they trust to begin with.

No, if you're looking to promote the colossus itself to the top of the food-chain, we already have something unique. Something that you can't find anywhere else on the internet. We have something that I've searched elsewhere for, and no site has ever even come close to it. We have Hyrule Adventures. Kamakazi and the mods at HA2 have been discussing it for a very long time, and we're prepared to begin work on a revamp of the site right away. By attracting all Zelda RPG fans from all over the net, people will transitively join the colossus' main forums, and bolster the main-site as a whole.

We already have what makes us special.
We're just investing all of our time and thought-power elsewhere for some reason.

Again, this is just what I think, don't burn me at the stake.

I agree with ZV. I'm all for helping out, but I'd rather take my time to enjoy the game rather than rush through it just so I can be the first to tell everyone how to get through a certain puzzle. My line of thinking is that we sort of make the walkthrough like a Wiki-walkthrough. Only it can't be edited by just anyone. Just a selected group of trusted TDC members so if say I get to the second temple and write the walkthrough up to there, and if anyone else has gotten any further, they can contribute more to the walkthrough. That way we don't necessarily have to sacrifice homework, hanging out with friends, or taking the time to enjoy SS just to write a walkthrough. It would be less pressuring.

A Walkthrough Wiki is a great idea! :D
I'm totally for that one!
That way we can just write as we go, so long as we're careful to avoid spoilers (like titling a page, "After Your Bird Dies").

Gamefreak

Darn, and I planned on naming the walkthrough:

"Damn Ganon, when did you get here?"

The thing about only letting trusted TDC members edit the wiki...Pretty much everybody left is a trusted member of TDC.

Vaati

True, true. I guess what I mean to say is make something for the veteran members. That's not to say I don't trust some of our newbies here, but it would definitely be a bad thing if a troll came along and made a TDC account just so they can mess up the walkthrough. ;)

The basic idea is to create a page for each game, then make a list of areas, goals, locations, etc.

Use this page as a template if you want.
