should Link be the hero in every zelda game?

In every zelda game Link has been the hero....I am not complaining about it but the story of this game can be much more exploited don't you agree, 'till now most of nintendo's classic characters, Mario, D.K., Fox, Samus, are world famus but I think despite Mario franchise is the most pro ::)fitable one Zelda can be called "State of the Art" in all senses, so mi question would be : What would happen if Shigeru and Eiji, explore a little bit; I know that if another 10 new Zelda games are made with the classic style       ( BGM, game play, characters) people would keep buying them, but remenber when Ocarina fisrt came out everybody was exited about the graphics but they wandered: will the game play change drastically?
or the "feeling", but fortunate for us it did not on the countrary, same with Metroid, in this last case was a complete change and it was good, so are we really never going to get enough of Link, how about descendants of Link as wizards in an entirely RPG game, or  a Zelda game of her own?.

TP will be the last Zelda as we know it, so the next 10 won't be like the past Zeldas. But it won't be Zelda any more if Link isn't the Hero.

All right, all right it was just a thought, but Evilslayer will agree that the feeling of the game has been "passed down" throught all the Zelda games preserving that "something", of course all of them are different among each other, but the style remanains, as a completly original game which,despite the hero has been the same through 14 games, we keep playing it and 'till now I haven't heard a person complaining about it.
I'm new arond here too and I think I've made a couple. ha ha ha

A thought I've had for some time is that they could have a large interactive RPG and name it Chronicle of Hyrule. You should be able to choose things such as race, tribe/town, name, class, etc.

Also, for lazy people, there could be a huge list of characters (both old and new) that the player can pick between. Link, Zelda and Ganon should be included.

i see what you mean dark zelda. like in a certain part of the game you get to controll zelda and her magic. that would provide some difference for it. however
link IS THE HERO plain and simple.

another reason he is the hero in every game is because he is the holder of the tri force of courage. no random dude could do that without a piece of the tri force. good question tho ;)

In one of the CDI games, Wand of Gamelon, you were the princess, though I think the game was said to be awful, though I've never had the chance to play  it.
