Weird critters

What are those wiggly creatures that pop out of the ground in the desert? The ones that have the short head and the long arms?

I think they're called Geldmen, but I'm not sure.  I avoid them usually.

I sort of think of them as disguised Gerudo.  I don't know why.

The first time I saw them I was like Holy Crap! get away from me!

They aren't so tough.

Yeah they're called Geldman. However, their Japanese name is Gerudoman. The L's and R's are interchangeable for English/Japanese, so it leads me to wonder if the name of the desert in LttP is "Gerudo Desert." It's interesting, also, that the Gerudo Thieves in OoT say that there were no male Gerudos but once every 100 years. This leads me to think of a lot of different theories to how the "Gerudo Men" are monsters in the desert, in LttP. Hehe.
