Since several things are happening with the Wii, we should keep a small topic to tell everyone what's happening.

Nintendo, because of several broken TV incidents, is starting to call back the Wii already.

Zelda Veteran

no way! Some people are SO stupid! You're supposed to hang on to the wiimote to pitch a ball, you dont actually throw the god forsaken device! >:(

My real Poison team in BW2. They all have perfect natures and EV's. I went the extra distance and bred the right IV's into them. Come at me bro.

You know, ZV's got a big point. I doubt that Nintendo would make its players throw the controller around to pitch a ball without some kind of net to keep the controller from hitting the TV.

I need to look into this more.

EDIT: From what I heard, it's mostly because the Wii straps that come with the controllers fail when under heavy force, resulting in possible damage to whomever or whatever the controller hits. Therefore, Nintendo is widening the strap by 66%.

Or it's because idiotic people are just not tying it, not tying it good enough, or throwing it, when they should relize that they should, but several people are idiots!!!!!  >:( >:( >:(

The chances of the strap breaking is also possible, on my guess aroung 25%-35%, but with idiots, it rises to 99.99999999999999999%!!!!!  >:( >:( >:(

MagmarFire

Well, there aren't many cures to idiocy, I know. However, I doubt that Nintendo is "calling the Wii back."

I'll need to look into that, too, but from what I know, Nintendo has a shortage in Wiis that won't be solved until spring 2007 (this is an estimation).

Well, I got calling back the Wiis from the news, and I didn't watch that part (I should also mention it was on a few hours ago), so mabye they mistook the shortage for calling it back, and you know how TV reporters are always digging for a story, and then stretch it a little.

MagmarFire

Yeah, that could be. The news media is always looking for a story. :P

I guess this means that I won't have a Wii until spring... :'(

I just flick my wrist, I dont throw with all I've got. Jeez, you think people would stop after they're arm is sore, but NOOOOOOOOO ???

MagmarFire

Yeah, there are dumb people out there, but there's still the possibility that the incidents could've been caused from casual kind of play--just a "flick of the wrist," as ZV puts it.

As an example of a stupid moment, I read somewhere that there was this woman who was playing Wii Tennis and dislocated (or something) her knee. The thing to think about this scenario is that she was wearing HIGH HEELS!

lol! So if she dislocates her knee, it's nothing to do with the Wii. lol! Thats funny! Did she try to sue? Also, I just sit in my chair while playing wii sports, I dont have to move anything but my wrist.

There's still the fact, though, that people are questioning the credibility of the injury. Some people think the shot (there was a picture of it) of the injury was a Photoshop-manipulated image.

Of course, I think there were other claims of injury, but I'm not too sure they were too serious. I haven't looked enough into injuries to give many more details about it.

LadyNintendo

I doubt Nintendo is calling back the Wii, only because of a stupid strap that appears to not be able to survive reckless people. More likely, they'll be sending stronger straps to the stores.

JDog

I think its funny, when they throw it, my mom was telling me about that, I think its funny, like shino said, idiots. ;D

MasterKeyX

Maybe its all a plot to make Nintendo look bad. Seriously, like you other guys said, you dont have to throw and swing the control like a beast, all you have to do is maybe twitch.

You don't need to swing it, like your there, you barly have to move it
