He's very strange and mysterious, we have hardly any information on him. When you get the "Bad" ending to Majora's Mask he says "You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?" Maybe suggesting he's immortal... He obviously travels inbetween Termina and Hyrule. And inside the Moon all those children look almost exactly like the Salesman and they said they were destined to become Mask Salesman, which may signify that the being inside the mask has some sart of connection with the Salesman. He seems to know a great deal about Majora's Mask. And if the tribe that sealed the mask away were forgotten then how would he know about them? My theory about him is that he is immortal and was around for 100s of years and probably is one of the survivers of the forgotten tribe. Your theories?

Eralk Fang

I don't think he is immortal, but part of a family that is deeply steeped in Mask lore, hence his knowledge of Majora's Mask. That specific quote from the bad ending doesn't really suggest anything about his lifespan, just an observation from him.

If you notice, he says that line when he meets you on the 1st day. It doesn't mean anything its just signifying that time got rewound.
Just wondering, if he knows this mask is evil and all that, WHY DID HE BOTHER TO FIND IT? Thats like inviting armagedon.

Eralk Fang

He's a collector of masks! He probably never planned to use it, like purchasing an antique gun (except this one has a dark demon inside of it...). Also, the legend of Majora's Mask seems to be dying out; he may have taken it to keep it out of the wrong hands. Which he accidentally delivered them into...

Master Dragmire

OK,
The HMS sensed that the Mask of Majora was released from its prison. He went through a great deal to find it, sensing that  something bad would happen, and when it was stolen, the omen returned. Knowing that much about a mask kept away in a prison for over 100 years, must mean he has some connection with it.

I was attempting the stopping time glitch in MM, I got killed by the moon. :-* From what I have seen HMS might have the power to rewind time too.

No, the ALMIGHTY CARTREDGE has the ability to rewind time. Otherwise the game would be incredably short like Starfox64 and Pokemon Crap (err I mean Snap).
Just because time got rewound doen't mean that the HMS did it. The game designers told the ALMIGHTY CARTREDGE(don't ask me why I'm caps locking it) to do it.

Huh, by this logic Link is immortal. Seeing as how every time he dies you can start the game up again.

IronKnuckle

I'm saying its the ALMIGHTY CARTREDGE (or the ALMIGHTY MINIDISK or ALMIGHTY EMULATER) that brings u back. The HMS has nothing to do with this. Hes just a freaky guy that gets his doomsday weapon muged by a guy with no face.

By the way, anyone notice that the HMS looks like Miyamoto?

Fishalicious

I like the Happy Mask Salesman. That's all I know, I guess. xD

I personally think that the reason the HMS shows up in the moon is because it's a twisted reality; Link thinks of the HMS as at least somewhat of a bad guy, he helped him get back to his Hylian form, after all.

So Majora's Mask decided to screw up all this and make it look like the good guy was the bad guy, and so on and so forth.

Or maybe MM was just referencing that HMS may have messed with the mask before and almost killed the world. >>; And HMS might have the ability to turn back time due to the whole "I screwed up" thing. Just an idea.

HMS was based off of the Miyamoto-san, don't you know?

Say what now? Proof, please.

M-Warrior

I just read it somewhere while looking for some Zelda articles. I forgot where.

LadyNintendo

I read that somewhere too, but I've never read anything confirming it. So it's just a rumor I guess.

The HMS has tons of knowledge and is aware of the existance of both Hyrule and Termina. Who knows what kind of stuff he has come across while studying? I'm not saying he has any powers, but I wouldn't be surprised.
