Link's Awakening

What did everyone think of Link's Awakening?  It was fun, but had a few problems.

1.  It was too short, in my opinion.  Did not have enough side quests, but the Seashells one was infuriating.  Most of the time I beat it without the Level 2 Sword.
2.  The game was waaayyy easy.  I can literally beat it in about 5-6 hours if I don't stop playing.
3.  The stupid dancing bunnies in Animal Village.  Have you seen them?  The cheesy village music is playing, and the bunnies seem to be dancing along to the tune of it.  Also, I suspect a bunny of placing Marin on the bridge (you know, when you have to save her?)  She was last seen with a bunny, and doesn't really give enough info to explain who did it, just a "monster."  The bunny is guilty.
4.  The color dungeon in the DX version.  Sure, you can get an upgrade from it, but it isn't necessary to beat the game.  I've beaten it without the fancy colored tunics.

Wow....I've compiled a long list of why this isn't one of my favorite games....Enjoy!

Master Goron

You know what's weird. Alot of players you talk to either hate this game, or beat it many times. I'm in between. While I didn't particularly enjoy it, it wasn't like the oracles, making me wanna tear my hair out. I've beaten it only 3 times, which is more than any other game.

I can see your point though, and I agree with you on most of it(not sure about 3).

Cyclos

I don't hate the game, I just think they could've done better with it.

Red_Fury

I played this game such a long time ago I can't remember much about it.

I do agree with the point about the color dungeon, which didn't really need to be there and was just added as a sort of gimmick. Also the DX version had a photo shot which was pointless.

But otherwise I really enjoyed that game. I think it's because it's the only game I remember playing that has a sad ending. I mean the Island just disappears taking all the people you met and interacted with, with it.

Evilslayer

Not all of them. There's a secret ending where Marin turns into a seagull if you beat the game with no deaths. ;)

Cyclos

Yeah, I remember her saying something about wanting to be a seagull.  I never beaten the game without deaths, cause I always jacked everything and died for it ;)

bgrugby

Yeah I agree that the game was not that great especially compared to its predessors but remember it was on the original Game Boy and there was not much you could do with that thing. I still think the end of the game was very great though.

Cyclos

Yeah, I liked the flying whale (Wind Fish, which isn't a fish if it's not a whale.)  I do like the game, don't get me wrong, I just think that it had more potential.

zeldafreak1997

um.. ok no one has really talked about the wind fish, a BLUE wale with tiny wings... its not even a fish its a deformed mamal... really

Well, The Legend of Zelda: The Flying Whale wouldn't get too many sales, I suppose. ;)

This was actually the first Zelda game I ever played, and it turned me off of Zelda for a while. Like Cyclos said, it was too short and too easy. I finally came to my senses when my friend showed me Ocarina of Time a while later. Link's Awakening was just a bump in the Zelda series, in my opinion.

Evilslayer

It was harder than OoT. A L OT harder, in my opinion. And it had magic, and nostalgia. In my opinion OoT lacked that. Mostly, anyway.

And I wouldn't call it short if you beat it in 5-6 hours. That's close to my record in beating OoT. The world record is less than five hours.

predawn

There's a world record? And it's under 5 hours? Gosh; people have way too much time on their hands.

Jack

Yeah, people record themselves playing the game and then post the movie on the internet.

Davros

By complete do you mean beating Gannon? Or getting everything in Hyrule? I still haven't found the final big poe in Oot and I find it hard to believe someone could do everything there is to do in under 5 hours... Also why would you want to? ???

Evilslayer

To create a challenge for oneself when the game is getting boring, hence making it interesting to play again. As for getting everything... no that's not their intent. I don't have a link to the world record on under 5 hours, but here's one to a previous on 5 hours and 12 minutes.
