Disappearing horses

If you go to LonLon Ranch before you wake up Talon, you might notice there are eight horses in the pasture.After you wake him up though,go back and there will only be five.(plus epona)Where did they go?

I ordered three horses from Lon Lon Ranch.  I picked them up that day.

Actually, I apparently inherited Romani Ranch.  That's why I needed those three horses.  A stallion and two mares.  Best way to get some colts.

I know what happened to them!When you woke talon up and he went to the ranch,Malon was mad. >:(Talk to him and he'll say,"It took a lot of doing,but I finally got Malon back in a good mood. :)he probably traded the three horses for a foal which is Epona.Problem solved!

So Epona wasn't there before you wake up Talon?  I didn't know that.

I don't know where she could have been.There are no other ranches.Maybe from the castle?I don't know.

No other ranches we can see in OoT.  Or maybe Epona was born while Link was talking to Zelda at the castle.
