Well, let's see, we were all bashing nick for its crappy quality of shows. Then we started going on how cartoons today are so sucky, and then I asked you guys to name some of the suckier anime...

Funny how topics, by definition, always end up evolving to a point where things go off topic... Anyway... Transformers was a show created by Japan and America working together, it was a sort of spin off of several toylines in Japan. So someone noticed how neat they were, and decided to create a toyline and series featuring robots that could transform from machines/vehicles to a form resembling humans. But Transformers, since the very beginning, has been anime stylish. A japanese studio was working on the animation, the drawings, etc, from plans and stories provided by the americans.

God, how I miss the original transformers...

yeah, transformers was a good show...did you know they are making a movie? that isn't animated? It looks sweet.

I haven't seen transformers in soooooooo loooonnng.   I used to play with those all the time.

Actually, there are TWO movies. The one we know and have coming up is the live action one.  But in 1986, they made a full length transformers animated movie. It actually served not as stand alone, which is common with movies based off of cartoons these days, but rather a continuation of events, going from season 2 to season 3. I heard in that movie, there was a giant transformer called "Unicron", he could transform into a planet, and 'eat' planets and moons. Freaky, no?

And what we have with Unicron has been the source of inspiration for some recent offerings of the Transformers saga.

The Live action movie might be the first part of three. They're going with a stand alone entry, not continuing the series, but rather, recreating it.
