We as humans could probably adapt when the world changes. But global warming is something we have done, and it will cause drastic changes in the world. These changes will cause bigger natural disasters to happen and end up killing many, many people. This issue is a moral one, because if the people of the world continue to do nothing, the consequences will be dire.

I watched alot of Global Warming on the history channel and whatnot, and i must say I'm diturbed that people don't care. This planet is a beautiful gift that can never be duplicated, and it's being destroyed by people. If something isn't done, the planet will be ruined, and guess what: we only have ONE planet Earth. So I think we should all get off our butts and do something.

QuoteSo your not worried that alot of people and animals could die in the next 50 years? That our ways of living could be forever changed?

We're all going to die eventually, I'm not worried.

Scientifically speaking, the Earth isn't living, so it would be kind of hard to kill it.  Besides, man-made effects such as global warming seems to me to be as large as natural effects.  So what if the ozone goes away allowing more ultraviolet radiation gets in?  Continuing with the example in Jurassic Park, some species will die out because of the extra radiation.  But others will survive.  That's what life does; it adapts.  Humans are perfect examples of that.  We've gone from Africa to the Artic Circle, adapting along the way.  That's why it's not such a concern for me.  If you feel concerned and want to do something about it, by all means, go ahead.  You have every right to do so.  I myself will feel inclined to make some ecologically smart decisions.  However, I'm far from worried.

Life can only survive so long, no matter how slow or rapid the environment changes. Animal life cannot exist in an environment as extreme as Venus, nor can it live on planet as cold and with such thin air as  mars. Life can only go so far before it eventually dies out completely, because even if we tried to evolve to survive these new environments, remember, Evolution takes MILLIONS of years, whereas, our environment is getting worse every year. Evolution can only go so fast, and when we take into account how long one generation of humans lasts against one generation of insects, we see that insects can faster evolve than Homo Sapiens. Life cannot exist without water, organic molecules, or a source of energy. All of these must be present for life to form. ANd if all of these are removed, then life will simply become nonexistant.

Humans evolve at a VERY slow pace, so if evolution is to take a course for other organisms to adapt to the new environment, then humans will more than likely be left behind. The human intellect can only go so far to save itself, before circumstances become, for lack of a better word, impossible.

Global warming isn't my biggest concern about life on Earth's survival. NEOs (near-Earth objects--objects in space whose orbits bring them close to Earth) are. We've had a lot of close encounters with NEOs, and they are things that mankind can't really prevent in the present.

If one of the big ones came, it would have so much kinetic energy that it would cause a catastrophic event where most/all life on Earth would be destroyed.

However, it wasn't predicted that that would be the apocalypse, so I'm good. :)

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

Would your future children agree? After all, the world doesn't just belong to us,it belongs to the future children who have to live in this world and if we don't take care of it, they will have to live in a pretty messed up world.

When our time comes, it comes.  It doesn't make any difference.  If we fix global warming, we'll die of cancer, if we fix cancer, we might be hit by some maniac on the road.  You can't fix these things, what happens, happens.

Vaati

I don't know much about science, so what are the cons of global warming exactly?  :-\ Can't possibly be an ice age if it'll get warmer, I know.  :-\

tell that to all the kids who's mothers have died of cancer. There's a reason why we created medication so people don't die in horrible ways. I wish people could die all in old age, but they don't. So we must solve problems, so we can have hope for the future.

Gamefreak

We fix one way to die, we'll die another, no use trying to change the inevitable.

a lot of things are supposed to cahnge because of it, the most significant being the apocalypse part of it-the ice caps will melt and flood the earth.

Not to mention several species will die, and that will upset the Ecosystems of the world and destroy the food chains. Then we would be affected and likely die.

i think i did very well...

Baka Nezumi

I know this is a little late but you should really watch that movie, it has some good stuff in it. It's not that boring by the way.

Gamefreak

I don't want to watch it, because I have a pretty strong dislike of Al Gore and all his works.
