Yeah.  I'm looking at the races in the Player's Handbook right now.  Trying to decide which on to go with to make my sorcerer.

I also need to get my DM to train me some time before I go back up to Pennsylvania to visit my family.  My uncle is expecting me to DM a campaign the next time I see him.

Mine's the opposite - I'm trying to find the profession for my Half-Elf.

Eh, I'd go with the middleground between the two.  A duskblade.  They can hold back and cast spells, or get in there with melee attacks.  They can channel touch spells into their weapons, but I find their selection of spells somewhat limited.  Although I've only ever played as a human, and I started playing D&D October 2006, so I don't know if my advice is the best out there.
