So, out of all the dungeons in the series you've been through, which of them do you think is the hardest?

This is a hard decision for me. The Water Temple comes to mind, and the second half of the LA dungeons were also...., how to put this, a living Hell. LTTP was no cake-walk either. All in all, I would have to say.......

Ganon's Tower, from LTTP. I died so many times in that dungeon it's sad. If I didn't get a walkthrough, I'd have never beeten LTTP.

Alright, laugh at me...

Skull Forest from Alttp. I'm scared of wallmasters.

Edit: And Ice Cavern, also Alttp.

Toughest dungeon? Ice Palace, aka Dungeon 5, of AlttP. That dungeon made me exercise some serious brainpower. My head was pounding after 3 hours of work- and I still didnt figure it out!!

Uh... none of them, really. I haven't had much of a problem figuring out the puzzles or anything. But if you want which dungeon I took the longest...

Probably the Shadow Temple from OOT. I really, really hate wallmasters and bloody grates.

(Of course, the dungeons in LA were pretty hard...)

IronKnuckle

Ok how bout I put it by game since I can't think of a number one for all.

OOT: Water Temple do I even need to explian this one?
MM: Stone Tower Its technically 2 dungeons in 1, on upright and one upside down.
WW: The Earth Temple. That temple took me 2 hours to beat. About half of that was spent tring to figure out that huge mirror puzzle in the basement.
TP: Palace of Twilight. Sure it looks cool, sure I like it, but why do I have to spend all this time stealing Sols and being chased by giant hands?

LadyNintendo

Ganon's Tower in ALTTP and the Great Palace in TAOL. The first is just freaking hard, and the other one is a huge maze with near unbeatable enemies and traps everywhere.

darkphantomime

Ganon's Tower isn't hard inasmuch as it's long. I find it rather fun, actually when I go through it.

The 3D Water Temples lol thats all i can think of

Zoratunic

The water temple from OOT. It's the reason I haven't gotten my game back in a year. i was replaying OOT, and I couldn't remember how to beat the water temple so I gave it to my friend, who couldn't beat it, and then he lent it to his friend, who has probably erased my game and started a new one.

Fishalicious

Start from the bottom up, sketching a map helps a LOT, you can keep track of locked doors and the like...

At least, that's how I did it. It doesn't take too long like that, I find.

Zoratunic

sounds like a good idea, if I actually had the game. ;)

Davros

I never worked out why people found the water temple from OOT so hard to be honest... For me the hardest would have to be Ganon's Tower in ALTTP.

Twilight Wolf

While a single dungeon doesn't immediately spring to mind, I can say that I think the dungeons in "The Legend of Zelda" and "Zelda II" are the toughest. For one thing, you've got basically no story to guide you to what dungeons to go to, so you can wind up in a dungeon you aren't supposed to get to until much later in the game. You can also waste time going through rooms you don't need to even enter to advance in the dungeon, plus the enemies you encounter are much tougher, and require actual strategy, not just some random sword slashes. In the later games, the designers have given you at least a basic story to guide you to which dungeons to go to. They've also given each room in a dungeon a purpose, and the enemies are simpler to defeat, but they're also a lot more varied than the earlier games.

That being said, I think I will go play Zelda II.
What, you expect me to say something witty?

darkphantomime

The dungeons in Zelda II really aren't that hard, but then again, this is coming from a guy who beat the game in about a week, soo....

Also, DUNGEON SIX OF LOZ FIRST QUEST!

Oh yeah,  and the great palace, mentioned a while back in this thread (I think...)
