Peronally, I really don't like stories that end like they start. If he became a farmer his life wouldn't change drastically. :P

Anyway, my favourite pairings in Zelda will always be Link/Zelda and Link/Flute-playing boy. Yes, you did read that last part. :P

Many fan fic authors who are into yaoi/shounen-ai prefer Link/Sheik, and in their stories Sheik is his own character. Personally, I really don't like that couple at all... as long as they make Sheik his own character.

Link/Flute-playing boy is a FAR more ideal pairing. They are dressed very much alike, and both play Ocarinas. Besides, Link has PINK hair in that game for crying alloud!O_o Altough if I was to write a fan fic like that, I'd make Link bi, not gay.
