I was just thinking about buying a SNES, becuase it has a ton of classic games that came out before I was born or while I was too little to be a gamer. I see some on eBay for about $20, which I could probably afford. So, should I get one?

Twilight Wolf

Definitely get one. I bought one a few years back, and I've never regretted it. In fact, I've got more games for my old Super Nintendo than I do for any other of my systems! So many great games... If you get one, be sure to grab Super Mario World and A Link To The Past.
What, you expect me to say something witty?

darkphantomime

Good luck finding cash for the games though. I hear they be pricey.

Twilight Wolf

They're not too bad, actually... I think I paid maybe five or so dollars for each game I have.

Gamefreak

Yeah, SNES was the first console I ever played, although I was scared of the guards in front of Hyrule Castle.

PlayStation was the first console I played well.

MasterKeyX

Why wouldnt you get a Super Nintendo? Let's see what games are great for the SNES:

A Link to the Past
Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2 (YOOOSSSSHHHHIII!!!)
Super Metroid
ALL THREE DONKEY KONG GAMES, OH YES INDEED.

etc, etc...

IT'S WORHT IT!

Heh.  Donkey Kong Country 3 alone is worth the 5 bucks to get an SNES.  I mean, I got all the Banana Birds, so that shows you how devoted I am to the friggin' game.

And all the DK coins.

AND all the Bonus Coins.

Well, I have the money now, I'll probably ask my parents tommorow if I can get one of ebay.
These are the games I know I defientely want.
Mario World (my parents remember playing this one, so maybe I can get the nostagia factor on them :))

All Donkey Kong Country games (I've played these before, they're awesome)

Final Fantasy II and III (that's 4 and 6 in Japan)

Star Fox

Contra

darkphantomime

Err... actually FF II (US) was IV in  japan.

Zoratunic

There we go, fixed it.
Looking on ebay right now, got some good choices.

Twilight Wolf

When you're looking at the item description, make sure there are some good pictures of the system, and make sure that it says somewhere that the system has been tested and works. You'll save yourself frustration that way. Make sure it's got the right power and TV hookups, too.

By the way, I suggest trying to get one that's not an awful yellow color. Internally, they're no different than any other, but they look really ugly.

An 'awful yellow color'? What you mean by that? Any system is bound to show its age..

Twilight Wolf

Some SNESs turn a horrible yellow color when they get older, but others stay the cool gray color they were made with. Mine, for one, is still just as gray as when it was brand new. The yellow ones usually work just as well as the gray ones, but the gray ones look a lot nicer.

darkphantomime

Yeah well, really can't be helped. ANYTTHING will age.

Twilight Wolf

Yes, but if it hasn't turned yellow in... fifteen years, chances are it won't get any worse in another fifteen.
