Okay, the Wii sent a slew of announcements to our inbox today, so I'd like to tell the rest of you what they said in case you never check.

From now on, ALL Wiimotes will be packaged with a jacket. This is a little either cloth or rubber cover for the Wiimote in case you throw it or drop it. (I guess Nintendo's still getting sued for that) Also, if you bought a Wiimote before this, you can go to http://www.nintendo.com and get a jacket for the Wiimote(s) you already have.

Also, you should update your system again, as they just released a new version of the Wii menu. So go do a Systems Update, now!

JDog

heh, I already updated my Wii, guess I know something I want now, a new wiimote, lol

Rev Rabies

i only have 2 wiimotes, but i ordered 4 jackets, just in case

DW

Good idea.

I forgot, you can also now use a keyboard with the Wii. That's something I've been waiting for for a LONG time.

You don't have to buy a new one, you know. Just find an old one that will connect via USB, should work. I'm not sure exactly which ones work, but I would expect any with a standard layout and fairly new...as in last few years...

JDog

Well, my strap for it came off, when my friend dropped it, lol, and I can't put it back in, and yea, so I'm just going to get one of the newer versions when I can.

Twilight Wolf

Actually, I got the announcement about the jackets and the updates about two weeks ago. I ordered two jackets and updated the Wii. I wonder why I got the messages so much earlier then you did, though? I mean, I've gotten no messages ever since...
What, you expect me to say something witty?

JDog

I just updated mine when it told me to after I connected to the internet with it, heh.

DW

...They must be racist!

I dunno, we just went and bought a second Wiimote, it didn't come with a jacket though, so we ordered two jackets just now.

Well, my wiimote sucks anyway, lol, it doesn't work right, like it will shut off like when I am in play and the batteries are new... it did that like five times in a row yesterday, lol.

Twilight Wolf

Well, I just checked my email, and it looks like they shipped out the two Wii remote jackets I ordered on the 23rd. It'll take 5-10 days for them to get here, so they could be here any time during this week. I can't wait!

That could be because of the sensor bar. Either that, or the Wiimote loses its sync with the console.

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

Assuming that Jdog was indeed talking about his Wii-mote and Shika was talking about keyboards, then how did he go from keyboard to Wii-mote?  The world may never know.

Anywho, all Wii-motes are now going to be packaged with a jacket.  Does that include the Wii-mote included with the Wii?  Does the Wii still come with Wii Sports, a Wii-mote, and a Nunchuck controller?  Shikamaru and Twilight Wolf seems to be knowledgeable of the subject.  Perhaps one of them can answer my question.

And both of them just happen to be on.  I expect a response in the next two point one zero two three nine minutes or else I cause TDC to become a Megaman fan site!

Yes, Jdog, check the sensor bar. Make sure it's about in the middle of the TV, and make sure that you have the sensor bar settings adjusted appropriately, depending on whether you have it above or below the TV. Also, make sure you're not playing too far away from the TV, and check the sensitivity settings. If this doesn't fix it, contact Nintendo's Customer Support.

And by the way, the Wii Remote jacket is not an alternative to wearing the wrist strap. It's just there to make sure that if you do happen to drop it or maybe the wrist strap breaks, it will be more protected. Always wear your wrist strap. I've had three close calls where I've let go of the remote while I was playing, and the wrist strap kept it from flying across the room.

Yes, HNS, the Remotes and Nunchucks will still be packaged with the console, and the Remotes that come with the console will also have a jacket. They will also include jackets for the Wii Remotes that come with copies of Wii Play. I'm also pretty sure that they'll also keep packaging consoles with Wii Sports.
